SYM RV1-2

With the aspect of minimalism being kept in mind while designing the SYM RV1-2, the entry-level underbone bike looks not so pretty and has a visual appeal which leaves nothing much to talk about. The slim profile of the SYM RV1-2, in addition to the jazzy color option, however, tries to liven up the things a bit.

The front fascia of the SYM RV1-2 looks a bit oddball with its weirdly styled cowl around the aggressive-looking headlamp, which does not go too much with its otherwise lean and simple design. This cowl does get clear lens indicators integrated on its sides, which makes the overall front face of the SYM RV1-2 slightly odd.

The side profile of the SYM RV1-2 looks quite athletic, thanks to its minimal side body panels and lean profile of the model. The fuel tank of the RV1-2 looks a bit curved from the top and then takes a slanted layout while moving lower down, where it blends quite well with the uprising and angularly styled side body panels as well as pointy engine cowl. The engine cowl here looks quite big for the overall size of the model, and partially hides the engine of the bike finished in an all-black theme.

The side body panels of the SYM RV1-2 have a slim design and comes with body decals slapped on them. These side body panels rise upwards in an angular manner and then feature a comprehensive tail lamp cluster complete with clear lens turn indicators integrated into them. The presence of spoke wheels makes you remind that this bike is built to a cost.

The very minimalist instrument console of the SYM RV1-2 is positioned quite lower behind the slightly upright handlebar and features analog dials for speedometer and odometer. The switchgear and overall build quality of the SYM RV1-2 don’t feel too premium either, and clearly suggest some amount of cost-cutting in them. However, the introduction of handlebar end weights is a nice addition.

The SYM RV1-2 gets a very lean profile, which has a decent set of mechanicals under the skin. The bike is equipped with conventional suspension setup of hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic coil springs at the rear, which thanks to their slightly stiffer setup and slim design of the bike, makes it overall handling very easy and nimble. The SYM RV1-2, despite being positioned at an entry-level, gets the praiseworthy addition of a disc brake at the front, while a drum brake is fitted at the rear

A four-stroke, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 110cc engine powers the SYM RV1-2, which is being offered with a 4-speed manual gearbox as the standard transmission option available. The engine is decently powerful, with the maximum power output rated at 6.2 PS. While the power output seems too low on paper, given the fact that the bike weighs just 95 kgs, the SYM RV1-2 has a respectable power to weight ratio to make its overall performance quite good. The top speed of the SYM RV1-2 tips out at 85 kmph.

Apart from the surprising addition of a disc brake at this price, the SYM RV1-2 doesn’t get any other noteworthy safety feature, which considering its basic positioning in the underbone bike lineup, is quite acceptable too.

The SYM RV1-2 is a decent purchase for all those potential entry-level bike buyers, who want a simple and frills-free ride for their basic commuting purposes. The front fascia of the model might take some time to get used to, but apart from that, it is a very easy vehicle to live with.
