Recent Updates of Yamaha Sight

The Yamaha Sight was launched quite recently in 2017. But this small period of time has been enough to affirm its position as the mileage king of all vehicles in the country. The Sight has now twice created and subsequently broken its own mileage record in two different events. That mileage was last recorded at an astonishing 133.53 km/L. This feat has lifted this otherwise run of the mill budget commuter underbone motorcycle to massive acclaim. This feat is achieved by a fuel injected engine and air-cooled 115 cc engine mated to a 4-speed transmission and producing a modest 8.8 PS and 9.5 Nm of torque. The Sight also tips the scales at just 95 kg which means less weight to shift. At the same time, it comes with amenities like body integrated indicators, front disc brake, key hole shutter and an underseat storage box. Even alloy wheels are available as an option. Price for the spoked wheel version is Php 59900 while the alloy wheel version costs Php 62900.

Yamaha Motors has been one of the prominent players in the Philippines two-wheeler market for years now and is well-known to introduce products that are tailor-made for the Filipino market. Adding to its long fleet of two-wheeler models, Yamaha recently launched the Sight 115. With a sole purpose to square-up the common daily commuters, Yamaha has launched the Sight with a highly economical engine, stylish design, and an affordable price tag. Powering the Sight is a 114 cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine that churns a max power of 8.5 hp at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 9.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. That’s enough power to handle the busy Manilla streets. The refined engine is claimed to return a magical fuel efficiency of 129 kmpl. Other features include an easy-to-read instrument panel with a gear position indicator, an anti-theft magnetic key shutter, a sharp headlight with a halogen lamp and a 9-litre under storage compartment. The spoke wheel variant of the Sight is available in Black Raven and Red Metallic colours at Php 59,900, while the cast wheel variant is offered in Yellow Hornet and Black Raven colours at Php 62,900. The Yamaha Sight competes against the likes of the Suzuki Smash 115, the Suzuki Shooter 115 Fi and the Honda Wave 125.

Yamaha has developed the Sight in a very subtle, no-nonsense yet stylish design tone. A sharp headlight is fitted on the handlebar with curved rear view mirrors placed above it. Just below the handlebar, there’s a Yamaha logo and the front apron holds sharp and wide turn indicator lamps. The sides feature graphics and a 3D SIGHT logo, while the rear has an edgy tail light and a black coloured aluminium single grab rail. Moreover, the Black Raven, Yellow Hornet, and Red Metallic colour options make the Sight look more visually appealing.

Ride & Handling

Developed on a steel body backbone frame, the Sight comes fitted with a single seat with a height of 775 mm. The driver can maintain a solid posture while riding on it. With an overall length of 1940 mm and width of 715 mm, the Sight is pretty compact and sleek. To add to it is its lightweight body with a kerb weight of 94 kg, resulting in easy handling through busy streets. Suspension setup includes telescopic front forks and swingarm at the rear.

Engine & Fuel Consumption

At the heart is a 114 cc, air-cooled, 4-stroke, SOHC, 2-valve engine that generates a max power of 8.5 hp at 7,000 rpm and peak torque of 9.5 Nm at 5,500 rpm. Power to the wheels is transferred through a constant mesh 4-speed transmission. The engine also comes with a fuel-injection system to boost its fuel efficiency. The cylinder head has a spiny sleeve to improve the heat release which keeps the engine cooler even in extreme conditions. Yamaha claims that the Sight can return a fuel efficiency of 129 kmpl, which is phenomenal. The fuel-efficient engine in combination with a 4.0-litre fuel tank will go a long way without a need of refilling.

Braking & Safety

The Sight comes fitted with a hydraulic single disc at the front and a mechanical leading trailing at the rear. In conjunction with the special brake pads on the wheels, these brakes provide much greater control over the amount of braking power applied. Moreover, the large 17-inch wheels shod with a 70/90 tyre up front and an 80/90 tyre at the rear offer fantastic grip, especially on slippery surfaces. As a safety measure against bike theft, Yamaha has installed an anti-theft key shutter on the Sight. Once closed, the shutter covers the entire key slot and it can only be opened with the back end of the assigned key.

Yamaha Sight is a lightweight daily commuter which suits your daily requirements in an effective manner. It offers what it is meant for and at an affordable price. So, anyone looking for a standard commuter with no fancy features can opt Yamaha Sight without any second thoughts.

I have owned the Yamaha Sight for well over a year now and it has been reliable and dependable. I use it every day to go to work and it has been a great companion. The engine is smooth and performance is good for a bike in this segment. The suspension is on the softer side which is good for Read More

I have just joined University and the distance between from my home to University is quite a lot. It was not possible for me to reach on time unless I avail a personal transport. My eco friendly bike

I am doing a mid level management job in Philippines. After meeting family expense and lodging expense, keeping a bike that consumes too much fuel would not have been possible for me. Hence my first priority while searching for a bike was one which has low fuel consumption. I was in fact shocked when the sales representative mentioned that the Read More

Yamaha Sight - Vega + Sniper (The Looks)

I just got my Yamaha Sight Cast Wheels (Yellow Hornet), still on the process of breaking in. So far, so good, I haven't encountered any problems at all even after I had a collision with the other motorcycle. I thought that was the end of my vroom vroom but only have a scratch on the decal, no scratch on the Read More
