2016 Honda Civic to be Recalled for Possible Engine Failure!

Manila: The heavily anticipated sedan, 2016 Honda Civic in the Philippines is already under the scanner in the US for a possible engine failure. The Japanese carmaker is planning to recall 2016 Civic compact sold over the time in past few months in the United States. The company has also issued an advice to all the Honda dealers in the country to put a hold on the sale of some variants of this all new facelift of the Honda Civic sedan.

This might come as a shocking news for those in the Philippines who are planning to buy this all new Honda offering. Recently Honda revealed the Philippines specs of this car and the car is been eagerly followed in the country for quite a long time. This will surely hit the brand with some negative publicity in this crucial pre-launch time. It is the same car that was named as the North American Car of the Year in the USA by a group of leading automotive journalists.

As per the Bloomberg reports, the number of vehicles to be recalled is not yet clear. However, earlier this month, CivicX.com displayed a bulletin from Honda dealer regarding the news. As per that bulletin, around 34,000 Honda Civics are affected and should be recalled with a fault involving a missing set of piston rings that can cause a possible engine failure.

According to the bulletin issued by company dated January 30, 2016, Honda expects to notify all the 2016 Civic owners by mid-March after the replacement parts of the engine will be available.

Honda enjoys a good brand image across the world, also, it is the third largest auto manufacturer in Japan. Thus, the repetitive recalls, either over Takata airbags or possible engine failure, are putting a big setback on the brand's image.

For now, we expect Honda to release the 2016 Honda Civic in the Philippines without any possible engine failure faults, as the car is not in the market yet.
