PH auto market sees considerable shift to electrified mobility
There’s no denying Filipino car buyers are aggressively shifting to electrified mobility, as evidenced by the abundance of hybrid and fully-electric models at two of the recently held big auto shows this year — the 2026 editions of the Manila International Auto Show and the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

Toyota Corolla Cross
The Toyota Corolla Cross bears one of the brand’s most iconic nameplates, offering the space that many of us now crave; whether it's for extra sets for extended family members, cargo space for loading camping equipment, or maybe a larger boot area to make room for hobby gear.
Powering the Toyota Corolla Cross is a hybrid 1.8-liter gasoline engine mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT). The said setup makes 120 horsepower (hp) and 142 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaFor added flair, the range-topping variant of the crossover gets a blacked-out grille with a honeycomb latticework, LED illumination, a set of 18-inch alloy wheels with a variant-specific two-tone GR-S design, leather upholstery, a 12.3-inch multi-information digital instrument panel, and a floating 10-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
The Toyota Corolla Cross costs anywhere from P1.514 million to P1.947 million.

Honda HR-V
Offering the same level of durability, reliability, and sportiness is the Honda HR-V, specifically the RS e:HEV CVT variant.
The hybrid crossover, however, leans heavily on the sporty side with the second-row seating feeling a bit cramped. The luggage space too, when the rear hatch is opened, appears to be suitable only for small items and not for hauling large loads.
Photo by Juan Paulo PapaNevertheless, it delivers a pleasurable experience when one sits behind the wheel.
Propulsion is facilitated by a hybrid 1.5-liter engine paired with an electronically-controlled CVT for a maximum power output of approximately 104 hp and 127 Nm of pulling power.
Reinforcing its sporty character despite the somewhat beefy body are a pair of paddle shifters found at the back of the steering wheel. They provide further control of the driving and allow the person behind the wheel to have that “one-with-the-machine” experience, especially when going fast on the freeway.
It will set buyers back some P1.45 million to P1.799 million.

Nissan Kicks e-Power
Another hybrid crossover to consider is the Nissan Kicks e-Power, which arguably is one of the more popular Japanese electrified models in the segment.
It does balance the fuel efficiency of an electric vehicle while providing owners with the enjoyment of driving a vehicle with a higher ground clearance.
Latest iteration shown below:
Photo by Cesar Guiderone MiguelPower comes from a 100 percent electric motor-driven system paired with a 1.2-liter gasoline engine that acts as a generator, or what Chinese brands call a “range extender.”
According to Nissan Philippines, the electric vehicle-first-designed powertrain makes around 133 horses and 280 Nm.
Compared to the other hybrid crossovers in this list the Nissan Kicks e-Power is probably the only model to prioritize the use of an electric motor before the internal combustion engine.
This results in a combined 22-kilometer-per-liter efficiency rating based on the UNR101 testing, although the brand states that actual consumption may vary depending on different driving conditions and habits.
As such, a full tank of gas will give would-be owners some 900 kilometers of range.
The Nissan Kicks e-Power stickers from P1.179 million to P1.479 million.

Ford Territory Hybrid
We can’t call this list complete without the Ford Territory Hybrid, which was hailed as the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated’s best-selling small utility hybrid model among brand members from January to May 2026.
Key to its success is the strong reception for the electrified crossover nameplate, as well as the growing demand for medium-sized rides with an electrified powertrain.

The electric motor can generate up to 215 hp and 315 Nm, while the internal combustion engine does about 147 hp and 230 Nm.
It has an estimated fuel economy of 19.6 kilometers per liter.
Depending on the variant, the Ford Territory will cost anywhere between P1.399 million to P1.599 million.
