Toyota bZ4X

Upon entering the Toyota bZ4X, you’ll notice its minimalist cabin design that has a premium, high-tech feel. Its perforated leather seats provide all passengers with decent support and ergonomic comfort. The driver and co-pilot’s 8-way power seats have a ventilation function. Additionally, the driver’s seat has a memory feature. The front row has generous amounts of head and leg rooms. In contrast, the second row lacks adequate space for three tall and larger passengers to comfortably fit. 

The bZ4X features a cockpit that tech-savvy individuals would definitely like. It comes with a 14-inch infotainment display that offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as Bluetooth connectivity, AM/FM, voice command, and WiFi. Its infotainment display is linked to an 8-speaker sound system, which provides high-quality acoustics around the vehicle. 

Furthermore, drivers have access to a multicontrol electronic power steering wheel and a 7-inch meter cluster and multi info display, which is placed where the heads-up display is usually located. Hence, its placement might be a bit bothersome to shorter drivers since the steering wheel is slightly blocking their view of the instrument cluster.

This EV’s cabin also boasts functionality and convenience. It comes with dual wireless chargers at the front and four USB Type C ports (2 at the front and 2 at the rear). It is also equipped with a digital inside rearview mirror.

The Toyota bZ4X features a futuristic appearance that exudes a balance of elegance and assertiveness. Its two-toned crossover SUV silhouette is very evident courtesy of its attitude black window trims, side garnishes, and wheel arches. However, Toyota can still improve on this SUV’s dynamic features since its weight can be felt by the driver and all passengers when hitting turns or passing through large and sharp bumps at high speeds. But, overall, this EV can deliver a smooth and comfortable riding experience for everyone on board.

The Toyota bZ4X is powered by an all-electric powertrain that utilizes dual electric motors, which produce a total system maximum output of 343 PS (front: 224, rear: 118) and a total system maximum torque of 338 Nm (front: 167, rear: 170). It has an advanced 73.11 kWh lithium-ion battery that offers a driving range of up to 570 kms. It runs on an all-wheel drivetrain.

Its all-electric powertrain delivers a surprisingly punchy throttle response. You’ll have no problem overtaking or driving at high speeds on free-flowing highways. Like most expensive EVs, it offers a relatively quiet cruising experience courtesy of its good NVH suppression system. Its efficiency might not be the best in its segment, but it would do just fine for your weekend out-of-town trips. Overall, this SUV is very enjoyable to drive both in the city and out on the open road.

In terms of safety, the Toyota bZ4X is equipped with the brand’s Safety Sense pack, which includes a pre-collision system, automatic high beam, an adaptive high beam system, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, and a dynamic radar cruise control. It is also equipped with several safety and security features such as seven SRS airbags, a blind spot monitor, and a safe exit assist among others. 

Meanwhile, in terms of braking, it utilizes ventilated discs both at the front and rear. Its braking setup is equipped with a vehicle stability control with brake assist, hill-start assist control, and a downhill assist control.

Admittedly, the Toyota bZ4X is on the pricier side of things compared to other locally-available 5-seater all-electric SUVs. But, for its price point, it is well-equipped, functional, and very reliable even in the long run. Ultimately, the bZ4X definitely carries Toyota’s trustworthiness on the road, giving it a high potential to become more competitive within its segment a few months from now.
