Here is why the Toyota bZ4X Touring trim would make sense in PH

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines should consider bringing the bZ4X Touring variant to the local market after bringing in the nameplate to the country late last year.

Set to be launched in Australia next month, the full-electric crossover’s latest variant offers increased cargo capacity and better performance.

Here are some of the features that the Toyota bZ4X Touring trim.

Vehicle specifications

Contrary to the rest of the bZ4X variants, the Touring option is longer by 140 millimeters behind the rear axle and sports a more upright tailgate. This will give owners more luggage space—from 452 liters to 603 liters.

Powering the Toyota bZ4X Touring is a pair of electric motors that can dish out 375.49 horses, which lets the vehicle jump to 100 kilometers per hour from rest in 4.4 seconds.

This is mated to a 74.7-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery that allows the vehicle to cover 488 kilometers (based on Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure). The energy bank supports both 150kW CCS2 DC charging and 22kW three-phase AC charging.

Further, the Toyota bZ4X Touring have similar specifications as the all-wheel-drive option except that it comes with a distinct 20-inch black alloy wheel design, front and rear skid plates, ladder-style roof rails, resin black wheel arches and bonnet insert, and a rear window wiper.

Inside, the vehicle features the following creature comforts such as:

• Dual-zone climate control
• Eight-way powered front seats with heating and ventilation
• Digital rearview mirror
• Panoramic glass roof
• Two wireless smartphone chargers
• 1,500-watt inverter
• 14-inch touchscreen multimedia system with nine-speaker JBL premium audio system

In Australia, the Toyota bZ4X Touring will be offered in six metallic and pearlescent paint colors, including the newly-introduced Daylight Bronze metallic. All six hues can be paired with either black or the new Touring-exclusive khaki synthetic leather upholstery.

Toyota Australia Vice President Sales, Marketing and Franchise Operations John Pappas said the bZ4X Touring will be a great option for buyers wanting a practical and punchy electric SUV.

“The new bZ4X Touring grade builds on the excellent drivability, comfort and technology of the bZ4X family, with strong storage potential and the highest power output of any Toyota passenger SUV,” Pappas said.

“There has never been a better time to make the switch to Toyota battery-electric technology, with the entire bZ4X range upgraded in line with Toyota’s kaizen ethos of continual product improvement.”

In the Philippines, the Toyota bZ4X comes in a sole option and is priced at P2.714 million.
