Tesla PH set to integrate Grok AI with EV lineup

MANILA: Tesla Philippines will integrate xAI’s Grok, an artificial intelligence (AI) -backed chatbot, into the Model Y and Model 3 electric vehicles (EV).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is Grok?

Grok is an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot developed by xAI.
  • How can Grok function as a smart companion aboard the Tesla Model Y and Model 3?

Grok can serve as a smart companion for the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 by handling daily tasks, providing information, helping to schedule trips, setting and sending reminders, and delivering live updates on traffic and weather.
  • The aforementioned was announced and is currently being demonstrated by the American EV company at the ongoing 10th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). Specifically, visitors can now try out the Tesla-integrated Grok as a glimpse into the future of AI-defined cars.

Per Tesla’s local arm, Grok goes beyond being an onboard voice assistant, but it actually functions as a “smart companion.” Its list of capabilities includes assisting in daily tasks, providing information, helping schedule trips, setting and providing reminders, and even providing live updates for traffic and weather.

Notably, Tesla Philippines has yet to disclose a timetable for the rollout of Grok on its vehicles. It was stated, however, that it will be provided to all of the brand’s vehicles across the country “soon.”

Presumably, the aforementioned AI smart companion will be distributed via over-the-air (OTA) software updates. Additionally, even after its introduction, Tesla says it will continue to see improvements through patches delivered via the OTA system.

As mentioned above, those who want to try out the Grok AI smart companion on board the Model Y and Model 3 can see it in action at the 10th PIMS, which is currently being held at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City. The said event is set to run until July 7, 2026.

Moreover, visitors are likewise able to sign up for test drives to experience the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 on the road.
