Toyota Ativ, bZ4x to help usher brand’s multi-pathway strategy toward carbon neutrality

MANILA: Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) will advance its multi-pathway strategy toward carbon neutrality with its two new electrified models, namely the hybrid Ativ and the all-electric bZ4x.

It is priced at P1.19 million.
  • How much does the Toyota bZ4x?

  • According to the local subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker, the arrival of the two new vehicles signals its push to broaden electrification options in line with the company’s “Beyond Zero” sustainability vision.

Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy – built on the principle that a mix of powertrain technologies rather than one can address the diverse mobility needs of Filipinos — aims to deliver solutions suited to the country’s road conditions, infrastructure readiness, and customer usage patterns.

Of note, below are TMP’s current electrified lineup, excluding the Ativ and bZ4x:

    Electrified expansion

The Toyota Ativ and bZ4x are the two new additions from the marque’s electrified roster in the Philippines.

Coming in as the most affordable hybrid from Toyota, the Ativ is expected to widen access to hybrid mobility, reinforcing Toyota’s position as the brand with the broadest range of hybrid models in the republic.

The range-topping Toyota Ativ HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) has a sticker price of P1.19 million with an estimated fuel economy of 31.3 kilometers per liter (based on Fuel Consumption Test Protocol under United Nations Regulations Number 101).

According to TMP, hybrid vehicles remain the most viable and accessible electrified option for the Philippine mass mobility landscape due to their self-charging capability, fuel efficiency, and reliability, making them effective for conditions where charging infrastructure is limited.

Meanwhile, the Toyota bZ4x is a model aimed at customers who are ready with the capacity to access charging infrastructure.

It is priced at P2.714 million.

Fully-electric models such as the aforementioned vehicle offer zero tailpipe emissions and quiet, efficient operation in areas with available charging facilities.

    Other stories:

    Support for transport sector

Per TMP, this broader strategy reflects the growing need to address the environmental impact of the country’s transport sector.

Because the local transport segment remains a major contributor to greenhouse gases, wider adoption of electrified vehicles is seen as an important step toward reducing overall emissions and managing the pressures associated with growing mobility demand.

“Toyota Motor Philippines fully supports the Philippine government’s carbon reduction goals, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 75 percent by 2030,” TMP President Masando Hashimoto was quoted as saying.

“Today, Philippine customers can choose from four vehicle types — gasoline, diesel, hybrid electric, and battery electric — to be their mobility partner, according to their lifestyle and location,” he added.

    More electrified models?

With a growing lineup, TMP is hinting at more electrified models to offer Filipino customers.

The company noted that its electrification goals align with Toyota Motor Asia’s regional targets announced in October 2025 at the Japan Mobility Show in Tokyo, where the regional headquarters detailed its target of achieving 30 percent electrified vehicle share of new vehicle sales in Southeast Asia by 2030 and introducing 10 new electrified models in the region in the next three years.
