Check out the PH-retailed Toyota Ativ's 4 variants

Toyota Motor Philippines launched the Ativ nameplate not too long ago, complementing the ever-popular Vios sedan with a hybrid model.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the powertrain options for the Toyota Ativ?

The Toyota Ativ can be had inn either a 1.3L, 1.5L, or 1.5L with hybrid technology powertrains.
  • What is the price range of the Toyota Ativ?

The Toyota Ativ costs anywhere from P916,000-P1.028 million.
  • As many car buyers begin to embrace new-energy platforms, the arrival of the new model signals the second wave of electrification the company is poised to unleash, especially now that the Toyota bZ4X and the all-new Hilux have been confirmed for the Philippine market.

On that note, here is a quick look at the four variants of the hybrid sedan.

    Toyota Ativ 1.3 E MT

As the base model variant, the Toyota Ativ 1.3 E MT sports some decent features that befit its entry-level positioning in the variant hierarchy.

This means external illumination consists of LED headlamps and halogen taillights. Its side mirrors do come with power adjust function with integrated signal lights.

It rides on a set of 16-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin of the Toyota Ativ 1.3 E MT comes with decent fabric seats, a seven-inch instrument cluster, and a nine-inch infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.

Audio is sent to a six-speaker sound system.

Power comes from a 1.3-liter gasoline engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.

It generates 96 horsepower (hp) and 12 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

Stopping power comes from ventilated disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

When it comes to safety, it packs features such as airbags, seatbelts, an alarm and immobilizer combo, an emergency brake signal, anti-lock braking, vehicle stability control, hill-start assist control, active traction control, and a rear camera.

    Toyota Ativ 1.3 E CVT

As one would expect, the Toyota Ativ 1.3 E CVT shares similar features as the Ativ 1.3 E MT variant, with the exception of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) for smooth power delivery and overall convenience — especially in city traffic.

    Other stories:

    Toyota Ativ 1.5 G CVT

The CVT variant now dons LED rear lights, as well as side mirrors with auto-fold functionality. It also now rides on a set of 17-inch alloy wheels.

Not much change can be seen inside, except that the steering wheel switches (audio, Bluetooth, and display on E variant) now has buttons for the panoramic view monitor.

Speaking of which, the said trim level now gets a 360-degree-view camera, alongside a blind spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert system for added safety.

The biggest change is in its powertrain, which now packs a 1.5-liter gasoline engine with a CVT. The said setup makes 104 horses and 138 Nm of pulling power.

    Toyota Ativ 1.5 HEV CVT

Coming in as the range-topping variant of the Toyota Ativ family, the 1.5 HEV CVT trim comes with all the bells and whistles and builds on the specifications of the 1.5 G CVT grade.

Exterior appointments come in the form of LED taillamps with sequential turn signals. Curiously, it rides on 17-inch alloy wheels like the base model.

Nevertheless, interior upgrades can be found in the likes of leather seats; steering wheel switches for cruise control, drive modes, and lane keeping; as well as an electronic parking brake with brake hold.

Good to see is the large 10.1-inch display audio system that now has wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. On that note, it also has a wireless charger, for added convenience.

Its hybrid powertrain system makes good use of its 1.5-liter gasoline mill, now paired with an electric motor. The internal combustion engine puts out 89 hp, while the electric motor contributes some 79 hp. Overall torque is rated at 121 Nm.

Additional safety technologies can also be expected, like a pre-collision system, automatic high beam, lane tracing assist, lane departure alert, and adaptive cruise control.
