Aston Martin Vanquish inspires massive light sculpture
Immortalizing the svelte lines and curves of the British marque’s flagship ride
MANILA: Aston Martin’s flagship V12 sports car, the Vanquish, was elevated into the world of fine art by becoming the basis and the inspiration for a monumental 5.4-meter-long immersive light sculpture.

What is the inspiration behind Aston Martin's artistic collaboration, “Reflections of Speed”?
Aston Martin’s latest artistic collaboration, “Reflections of Speed,” was inspired and is based on the Vanquish V12 model.Who is the sculptor behind the Aston Martin Vanquish-inspired “Reflections of Speed”?
The Aston Martin Vanquish-inspired “Reflections of Speed” was created by famed sculptor Anthony James. The said sculpture, which famed artist Anthony James painstakingly developed for 12 months, is titled “Reflections of Speed.” It weighs a massive 2,721 kilograms, and it uses a series of light bars to create dazzling reflections and lines over the surface of an actual example of the British-made sports car.
As a result, the sculpture creates a seemingly endless tunnel of light around the Vanquish while highlighting the V12 grand tourer’s tasteful curves and every single one of its nooks and crannies.
Mind you, the Aston Martin Vanquish, sans the sculpture, is already an art piece unto itself. As explained by Aston Martin Executive Vice President Marek Reichman, it is the kind of ride that kick-starts the creative imagination of onlookers.
“Vaquish is more than just a car - it’s a sculpture in motion. Vanquish expresses true contemporary elegance through its proportional perfection, toned physique, broad stance, fluid curves, and a striking silhouette,” Reichman said.
“There is great passion in creating pure excitement, and this new Vanquish is a culmination of fearless creativity and human ingenuity. With its form shaped to evoke emotion, Vanquish - like any piece of art - aims to inspire and captivate,” Reichman added.
To note, the Reflections of Speed sculpture is a part of the Gaydon-headquartered company’s long-standing collaborative effort with leading artists and creatives.
After its stint at the exclusive Chateau Marmont hotel in Hollywood, it will be displayed for the general public at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles at a yet-to-be-determined date.
This year, however, the said sculpture will be offered for sale, with the proceeds to be donated to the LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund - a charitable trust that will benefit artists and art workers impacted by the recent Los Angeles fires.
