Aston Vantage V12 Roadster is an exclusive, 700hp open-top

MANILA: The new V12 Vantage Roadster — the most thrilling and ultra-exclusive Aston Martin Vantage ever produced — blends the exhilarating performance of a roof-down driving experience with the freedom and sensory stimulation an Aston Martin Vantage can bring.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What are the modifications found in the Aston Martin V12 Vantage?

The 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster has a compelling combination of dramatic widebody design, ground-hugging wide-track suspension, and, for the first time in a Vantage Roadster, the powerful 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine. The carbon ceramic brake technology also makes a considerable 23 kilogram of unsprung weight saving compared to steel brakes.
  • How many examples of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage will be made?

Production is strictly limited to just 249 customer examples worldwide — and all examples have been sold before release.

“We have worked extremely hard to ensure the V12 Vantage Roadster possesses the same potency and dynamism that characterizes the V12 Vantage, while surpassing it in terms of raw sensory excitement that you only achieve with roof down driving.

With more power and torque than any Vantage Roadster before it, a wide-track chassis with precisely tuned suspension calibration, and up to ten times the downforce of the series production Vantage Roadster, this is a breathtaking machine created for our most enthusiastic customers,” Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin Chief Technical Officer, described the new roadster.

The engine's powerhouse plays a crucial role in this thrilling driving experience. The quad-cam 60-degree 5.2-liter V12, with 700 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 753Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm, is a veritable force of nature.

Every push of the Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster's throttle results in a memorable rush of adrenaline thanks to its 372 horsepower per ton of weight and constantly amazing delivery, which combines easy in-gear responsiveness with epic acceleration.

With a top speed of 321 kph and a 3.5-second zero to 100 kph time, the 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is at the pinnacle of open-top sportscar performance.

The vehicle has a mechanical Limited-Slip Differential (LSD) positioned at the back and a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, giving it the simplicity and balance of a front-mid-engine rear-wheel drive arrangement.

While adaptive software in the gearbox's management system monitors operating conditions and driver demands to increase the driver's perception of reaction and control, an optimized transmission calibration minimizes shift speeds and maximizes driver interaction.

The V12 Vantage Roadster's dynamics have been refined to the sharpest edge despite sharing the same suspension components as the V12 Vantage and having a custom tune for its adaptive dampers.

In order to provide optimum steering feel and swift response — improvements that make the car come alive through bends and are perceptible with every steering input — the steering calibration is identical to that found in the V12 Vantage.

Like the V12 Vantage, the 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster features powerful Carbon Ceramic Brakes (CCB) as standard. Measuring 410 millimeters x 38mm the front discs are gripped by six-piston calipers, while the 360mm x 32mm rear discs are paired with four-piston calipers.

With much increased stopping power and tremendous resistance to brake fade at high temperatures, the CCB technology also makes a considerable 23 kilogram of unsprung weight saving compared to steel brakes, benefitting steering response and ride quality.

The front bumper, clamshell bonnet, front fenders, and side sills of the 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster are composed of carbon fiber to further reduce total bulk, while the rear bumper and deck lid are made of a lightweight composite material.

Use of a lightweight battery and a unique center-mounted twin-exit exhaust system built of 1mm of lightweight stainless steel has resulted in additional cost reductions. This new system, which weighs 7.2kg lighter than the Vantage Roadster's exhaust, is tuned to give the V12 Vantage Roadster a thrilling voice to match its good looks.

Sharing the same suspension parts as the base coupe, but with added bespoke tune for its adaptive dampers, the V12 Vantage Roadster’s handling prowess has been tuned to be as sharp as it can be.

The steering calibration mirrors that in the V12 Vantage, what with maximum steering feel and quick response, improvements which bring the car alive through corners and can be felt with every steering input.

Not only does the widebody design create an imposing physique, the widebody design accommodates the V12 Vantage Roadster’s widetrack suspension that is 40mm wider than Vantage. The new front bumper design, which is made with full width front splitter that generates additional downforce and aerodynamic balance, is mated to increased cooling.

Enhanced cooling is achieved by the reshaped front grille, which is 25% larger than the standard Vantage and the ‘horse shoe’ engine vent in the bonnet.

The newly sculpted single-piece sills and rear bumper, which includes an integrated diffuser and is informed by aerodynamic performance, have also been improved by the routing of the dual tailpipe, center-mounted exhaust system.

A dramatic rear wing is not standard on the 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster, unlike the V12 Vantage, albeit it is an option. Those who want a more subdued appearance can do so with confidence knowing that aerodynamic balance is preserved thanks to meticulous underbody airflow management.

The striking 21-inch alloy wheels, which are available in satin black or satin black diamond turned finishes, provide the vehicle's finishing touches. There is also a lightweight forged wheel alternative that may be ordered in satin black or satin black diamond turned, saving an additional eight kilograms of unsprung mass.

All rims come equipped with Michelin Pilot 4S high performance tires, measuring 275/35 R21 up front and 315/30 R21 out back.

The 2023 Aston Martin V12 Roadster, the top model in the Vantage line, comes standard with Sports Plus Seats that are fully semi-aniline leather-trimmed and have a "Wings" quilt and perforation pattern.

For customers seeking the best in dynamic design and maximum support for high-speed driving, a carbon fiber performance seat with exposed twill carbon fiber shell and manual six-way adjustment is an option. It also saves 7.3kg without sacrificing occupant comfort.

Customers of the V12 Vantage Roadster can increase the uniqueness of their vehicle by using Q by Aston Martin, the brand's customized customisation service, for everything from eye-catching external graphics and liveries to woven leather.

The 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster lends itself perfectly to Q by Aston Martin: Commission's line of tinted lacquers, which change appearance under different lighting conditions to make a spectacular feature of the hand-laid carbon fiber panels. This is because the design makes extensive use of exposed carbon fiber.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, sums up the new exclusive roadster: "From a design perspective, V12 Vantage Roadster is a combination of living sculpture and physiology, such as the functions of an elite runner or thoroughbred racehorse.

On one hand, much like the way their systems are developed to handle the stresses of peak performance and trained to work together to increase efficiency and power using oxygen, V12 Vantage Roadster was designed to maximize the benefits of airflow into, throughout and around the car.

And on the other hand, for our drivers, we created this explicit open-top sports car for those craving excitement and drama. The platform presented us with a design opportunity to make a contemporary visual statement of intent. The result is a living, breathing, driving sculpture with a level of control that sits at the fingertips".

Production of the 2023 Aston Martin V12 Vantage Roadster is due to commence in Q3 2022, with first deliveries scheduled to begin the next quarter.
