Bentley names Michelle Yeoh as global brand ambassador

MANILA: Bentley has named actress and producer Michelle Yeoh as its newest global brand ambassador.

The announcement came a few weeks after the British luxury automotive brand unveiled the Torcal—a once-in-a-generation new model line for Bentley and the marque’s first fully electric vehicle.

“An action star, Bond icon and global legend, Yeoh embodies Bentley’s high-performance spirit and the dedication to craft perfected over decades. Announcing her role as a global brand ambassador alongside the launch of our new Torcal, we hope to bring to life the confidence, character and ambition that define Bentley today,” Bentley Marketing Director Ben Whattam was quoted as saying.

Crewe, Cheshire connections 

Yeoh was born in Malaysia and pursued her education in the United Kingdom as a teenager, training in ballet. She went on to study Creative Arts with Drama in Cheshire, just 15 miles from Bentley’s home in Crewe.

The budding performer established herself in Hong Kong in the 1980s and became one of Asia’s most successful actors known for doing her own stunts in films. 

She has starred in more than fifty films, including global hits James Bon’s “Tomorrow Never Dies,” Oscar-winning “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,” “Memoirs of a Geisha,” “Sunshine,” “The Lady,” “Crazy Rich Asians,” “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings,” sci-fi franchise TV series “Star Trek: Discovery,” and Blockbuster musical “Wicked.”

In 2023, she made history with Everything Everywhere All at Once, becoming the first Asian woman to win the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her latest works include “The Surgeon,” “Blade Runner 2099,” and “The Wandering Earth III.”

Her relationship with Bentley echoes that of her husband, Jean Todt (former Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile President and now United Nations Secretary-General Special Envoy for Road Safety), whose love of Bentleys includes a 1965 Continental S3, a 2019 Mulsanne, and a 2025 Flying Spur Speed 1st Edition. 

“Over more than four decades on screen, from Hong Kong action cinema to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, to the worlds I’ve explored in Everything Everywhere All at Once, I’ve always been drawn to stories about transformation, about characters who evolve without losing who they are at their core,” Yeoh commented.

“Bentley embodies that same idea: a brand that has reinvented itself again and again while staying true to its craftsmanship and its soul. That’s why this partnership feels so natural to me. Torcal represents Bentley’s next chapter, and I’m honored to be part of telling that story,” she added. 

Yeoh joins a roster of Bentley ambassadors including Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Mai Ikuzawa, and Greg Williams.

Since Yeoh’s appointment as the company’s newest ambassador comes after the debut of its newest offering, here are a few notable facts about the Bentley Torcal: 

• It is powered by a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system paired with an 113-kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery consisting of 192 individual lithium-ion pouch cells 
• Performance figures are 875 horsepower and 1,350 Newton-meters 
• It zooms from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in  just 2.8 seconds
• The Bentley Torcal rides on a set of 21-22-inch wheels
• It packs a 12.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Available is a Naim 28-speaker package 
• Safety features include advanced driver-assist systems supported by radar, ultrasonic sensors, 360-degree digital perimeter-mapping cameras, and A-pillar driver monitors
