Bentley tweeted a Continental GT built for ice racing

MANILA: Bentley Motors official Tweeter account (@BentleyComms) just teased a rally ready, icy blue Continental GT ready to take on the frozen roads of Austria. The brand new 2020 Bentley Continental GT is suited up for the revival of the second annual Ice Race GP in Austria.

To prepare the Bentley Continental GT for the event, there is the custom paint that features Pikes Peak-inspired black-and-baby-blue livery. The Bentley also gets a slight raise to accommodate matching fender flares and a set of studded Pirelli Scorpion Ice Zero2 tires wrapped on 5-spoke blue (front) and black (rear) rims. A custom exhaust from Akrapovic adds to the musical roar of the engine. On top, the bespoke Continental sports a ski rack and a massive LED fog light bar on its roof to match the lights on the front grille. Inside is a set of racing seats and harnesses, a half-cage, and an on-board fire suppression system to make this custom Bentley a proper racer.

Under the hood, the Bentley Continental GT sports the same factory twin-turbocharged 6.0-liter W12 engine capable of delivering 626 hp of maximum output and 900 Nm of peak torque. Let me tell you, that is more than enough given the racing conditions. Besides, this Bentley can go from zero to 96 km per hour in just 3.6 seconds and can run continuously to a top speed of 321 km/h.

Bentley’s director of motorsport, Paul Williams admitted to testing the Continental for himself, “I first drove the prototype Continental GTs on snow during winter testing before the launch of the car.” He further adds that “the stability and control this car has on these surfaces is unbelievable and I look forward to seeing it race in those conditions.”

Bentley will provide the cars for the skijoring event of the Ice Race GP. Skijoring is like water skiing where you pull a skier but instead of water, you are towed on a pair of snow skis through a slalom course. Back then, the sport was led by horses or a pack of dogs. But as the sports evolved, it relies now on horsepower. Besides the Sjijoring, there is also an Ice Race where junior World Rally Championship driver Catie Munnings will pilot the Continental.
