BMW i8 Launched At The PIMS 2016

MANILA: One of the key highlights of the show, BMW i8 has been finally launched for the Philippines market today. Since its global debut in 2013 under the sub-brand i, i8 has gathered a lot of appreciation from the auto enthusiasts across the globe. The same kind of response is expected from the Filipinos also, as BMW has redefine sports car conventions rather than abide by them. Considering the design of this sports car, it boast the EfficientDynamics concept which was first revealed by the German automaker in 2009.

To create a super-lightweight body, BMW i8’s passenger cell and doors are made up of resin-injected carbon fiber- reinforced plastic (CFRP) with front as well as rear subframes and crash structures in aluminium. This has resulted in reducing the overall weight of the car to a great extend. Under the hood, it is equipped with a combustion engine, an electric motor and a lithium ion battery. The combined power output of 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine and electric motor measures 362 PS and peak torque counts to 569 Nm. Hitting 100 kmph mark will take 4.4 seconds from naught and fuel economy has exceptional count of 40 kmpl.
