More than 15,000 motorists going to Taguig from Parañaque and vice versa will benefit from the newly opened Cavitex C5 Link Flyover Extension.
  • The newly opened 1.6-kilometer segment of Cavitex C5 Link gives motorists from Merville, Parañaque convenient access to C5 Road in Taguig.

The opening ceremony was held on Saturday, August 13, with the presence of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Chairman Manny V. Pangilinan, Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, Department of Public Works and Highways Undersecretary for Planning and Public-Private Partnership Maria Catalina Cabral, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Rodrigo Franco, Metro Pacific South President and General Manager Raul Ignacio, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation Government Relations and Public Affairs head and MVP Group Media Bureau Head Atty. Mike Toledo, Senator Mark Villar, Parañaque First District Representative Edwin Olivarez, Parañaque City Mayor Eric Olivarez, and Pasay City Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano.

With the opening of the Cavitex C5 Link Flyover extension, motorists from Parañaque to Taguig must now enter the expressway through the new C5 Link Flyover Merville entry located in front of Shell C5 Southlink in Brgy. Moonwalk.

“More than 15,000 motorists going to Taguig from Parañaque and vice versa are expected to benefit with this new segment of Cavitex C5 Link. We urge everyone to utilize Easytrip RFID to avoid the long line at cash lane and maximize the benefit of shorter travel time,” Ignacio stated.

Motorists can avail of free Easytrip RFID installation and RFID checkup at the Cavitex C5 Link Customer Service Center. They must simply pay P200 for the initial load to activate their Easytrip account.

According to the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), the provisional toll for the Cavitex C5 Link will be P37 for Class 1 vehicles, P74 for Class 2, and P112 for Class 3. This will be implemented in September.

“We encourage motorists to use the Cavitex C5 Link flyover extension while it still has no additional charge, for them to enjoy the added benefit,” Ignacio added.

Once completed, the Cavitex C5 Link will connect to Cavitex R1 Parañaque toll plaza and is expected to cut travel time from Cavitex to Makati, Taguig, and Pasay by 30 to 45 minutes, helping decongest major thoroughfares such as EDSA, MIA Road, and Roxas Boulevard. The 7.7-kilometer segment is expected to serve more than 50,000 motorists upon its completion in 2023.

Segment 2 of Cavitex C5 Link is currently under construction and is now 30% complete. This segment will connect other segments of Cavitex C5 Link to Cavitex R-1 Expressway in Parañaque. It is expected to reduce travel time from Cavite to Sucat once completed, helping decongest local roads such as Sucat Road and Quirino Avenue.

Cavitex C5 Link, along with other MPT South expressways such as CALAX and Cavitex, are designed to help decongest major thoroughfares in Cavite and in the southern part of Metro Manila. They provide convenient access to socio-economic and tourism activities in the regions to help boost economic development.
