Cavitex To Implement Toll Rate Hike Starting Aug. 21

MANILA: The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has approved the 2017 periodic toll petition of Cavitex Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) for the toll rate adjustments on Cavitex.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How much will be the toll rates for Cavitex motorists going from the MIAA Exit to Longos, Bacoor and vice versa?

Cavitex motorists going from the MIAA Exit to Longos, Bacoor and vice versa will be charged with the following rates at the Parañaque Toll Plaza: P35 for Class 1 vehicles, P70 for Class 2 vehicles, and P104 for Class 3 vehicles.
  • How much will be the toll rates for Cavitex motorists going from Longos, Bacoor to Kawit and vice versa?

Motorists traveling from Longos, Bacoor to Kawit and vice versa will be charged at the Kawit Toll Plaza with the following rates: P73 for Class 1 vehicles, P146 for Class 2 vehicles, and P219 for Class 3 vehicles.
  • The Cavitex toll rates are subject to periodic adjustments every three years under the Toll Operation Agreement between the TRB, CIC, and PRA. In 2017, CIC and PRA used their right and submitted their petition to the TRB asking for approval of periodic toll rate adjustments for the R-1 Expressway (Seaside to Zapote) and R-1 Expressway Extension, Segment 4 (Zapote to Kawit).

After thoroughly deliberating and analyzing the submissions, the TRB issued its resolution granting the petition and authorizing the implementation of the provisionally approved toll rates.

Starting on August 21, Cavitex motorists going from the MIAA Exit to Longos, Bacoor (and vice versa) will be charged with the following VAT-inclusive rates at the Parañaque Toll Plaza:

    • Class 1 - P35
    • Class 2 - P70
    • Class 3 - P104

Meanwhile, motorists traveling from Longos, Bacoor to Kawit (and vice versa) will be charged at the Kawit Toll Plaza with the following rates:

    • Class 1 - P73
    • Class 2 - P146
    • Class 3 - P219

The Cavitex has been improved and maintained over the years by CIC and PRA, who have remained committed to giving all motorists a smooth and safe travel experience. To ensure the best possible road quality, they have worked together to complete various improvements, including a full asphalt overlay along the entire expressway, the construction of the Pacific flyover and Marina left turning facility, the widening of the Las Piñas, Wawa, and Parañaque bridges, and regular heavy maintenance work.

The toll road operator has also incorporated Automatic License Plate Recognition technology to increase the efficiency of its toll collection system. This cutting-edge system makes use of smart cameras to quickly identify and record vehicle license plates at all toll booths, facilitating quick and easy cashless transactions.

These upgrades have made a major improvement in the convenience and safety of the 160,000 daily motorists who rely on Cavitex.

Considering the impact of the toll rate adjustment, CIC will relaunch the Abante Card program. The program was started by CIC to provide assistance to the operators and drivers of public utility vehicles (PUVs) that travel along Cavitex, such as jeepneys, UV Express, and buses. Under the program, PUV drivers and operators can take advantage of the old toll rates to help sustain their businesses and provide commuters with affordable transportation options.

CIC is a concessionaire of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation. Aside from Cavitex, MPTC also owns the concessions for Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), Subic-Clark Expressway (SCTEX), NLEX Connector, and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX).
