Changan invests over THB8.8-B for first production plant in Thailand

MANILA: The Changan executive team, headed by Chairman Zhu Huarong, met with Thailand Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce Phumtham Wechayachai to discuss the Chinese carmaker's business plan in the Thai auto market.

Changan Automobile has invested over 8.8 billion baht in establishing its first production site in Rayong Province. The goal is to manufacture 100,000 cars annually and supply high-quality vehicles to Southeast Asian markets as well as the global right-hand drive car market by the first quarter of 2025.

Phumtham congratulated Changan on the establishment of its vehicle production site in Thailand, which is anticipated to contribute to the employment opportunities for Thai citizens.

He also took part in a test drive of Changan's two newest electric vehicles: the Deepal S07 sport utility vehicle (SUV) and the Deepal L07 fastback car.

The Deepal S07 is a smart, family-friendly, all-electric SUV that expertly combines cutting-edge technology and elegant design. The avant-garde exterior boasts a wide-body design, frameless doors, and electric hidden door handles, while the interior has a luxurious yacht-inspired design with hidden vents. The Deepal S07 is also notable for its high-tech features.

On the other hand, the Deepal L07 features a unique design philosophy that reflects its environmentally conscious nature. The car emphasizes its electric powertrain with its grille-less front and LED interactive headlamps. Inside, a sophisticated, fully digitized, and sensor-equipped cockpit showcases the brand's commitment to efficiency and style while evoking a futuristic environment aligned with the vehicle's forward-thinking values.

Both models were launched at the 40th Thailand International Motor Expo held in Muang Thong Thani from November 30 to December 11.
