Confirmed: BYD Seagull to enter PH market

MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines has just confirmed the Seagull nameplate’s entry in the country.

This as the ACMobility-led electric car distributor has started displaying the compact hatchback at Ayala Malls Trinoma in Quezon City prior to its formal launch within the month. The event, called the BYD Tech Tour, can be visited until Sunday.

“We at BYD Cars Philippines are excited to give the public a sneak peek of what we believe will redefine what affordable, fun, and practical electric mobility is in the country,” BYD Cars Philippines Managing Director Bob Palanca said.

“For those in the market for their first electric vehicle, the BYD Seagull is the ideal entry into the electric mobility lifestyle. BYD dealerships, our website, and our social media channels will gladly answer your inquiries and handle your reservations for the BYD Seagull,” he added.

Earlier, ACMobility Head of Automotive Retail and Distribution Antonio Zara III gave a strong hint to Zigwheels Philippines about the nameplate’s arrival in the country, saying that  it is “one of the vehicles available during last year’s trip to Zhuhai, China” and is eyed to have an around P1-million pricing.

The BYD Seagull’s upcoming launch follows the recent introduction of the Sealion 6 DM-i. Both models are under BYD’s Ocean series.

Relatively smaller compared to the Atto 3 (the brand’s best-selling model in the country), BYD Seagull features the e-Platform 3.0 and comes with Blade batteries that gives the vehicle range of up to 380 kilometers of range (based on New European Driving Cycle standards).

Aside from that, the aforementioned model also has BYD’s intelligent cockpit system and a 10.1-inch adaptive rotating screen.
