Fuel prices to see rollback this week

MANILA: The Department of Energy (DOE) has reported that fuel prices this week (September 1-7, 2026) will see a slight decrease. 

For reference, here are the price adjustments for the first week of September 2026, according to the DOE: 

Product	Minimum Price Decrease
Gasoline	-P0.32
Diesel	-P3.83
Kerosene	-P3.84
Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG)	-P4.39

Notably, the fuel type with the biggest price cut is LPG, which will see a downturn of P4.39 within the week. But for fuels more relevant to passenger vehicles, diesel is set to see a larger price decrease than gasoline, by P3.83.

Compared to last week, this week’s price update is no doubt more favorable for Filipinos. The previous week’s (August 25-31) price adjustment, after all, was an increase all across the board. 

As previously reported, gasoline pricing for the last week of August 2026 rose by P1.08, whereas diesel increased by P2.31. On the one hand, Kerosene saw the least price hike last week at P0.95. 

Per DOE, these price changes are based on movements in the global oil market. As such, it hinges on global events, such as the current conflict in Iran. 

On the one hand, the DOE assumes that the local oil supply will be secure for the benefit of Filipinos.
