Hennessey feels being the fastest matters a lot; plans production of Venom F5

MANILA: The Hennessey Venom F5 was introduced in November last year with just one motto to fulfill, the company wanted it to be the fastest car in the world. But here comes a question. Is it really very important for any hypercar maker to produce the fastest car in the world?

Well, the founder of Hennessey, Mr. John Hennessey, has quoted to a popular automobile magazine that being the fastest really matters to the clients. The last of the cars from the company, the Venom GT could get to the 434 kmph mark and still had a lot of grunt left to be utilised. However, the fact that it had a lot of drag coefficient (0.44) and downforce had worked against it.

The Hennessey Venom GT is to be replaced by the Venom F5. The latter car will be built on carbon fibre structure along with metal subframes at the rear and the front. The car is designed aerodynamically so that it could attain a top speed of 484 kmph. It will also have a deployable rear-wing as well as a full-length undertray. With this, the company also claims that the drag coefficient will be 0.33 only, a lot lesser than the previous Hennessey Venom GT. Moreover, this figure may be improved further before it hits actual production.

The new Hennessey Venom F5 will use a 7.4-litre engine which would be capable of hitting a monstrous power 1,600 PS along with a humongous torque of 1,762 Nm. The power would be sent down to the rear wheels via a 7-speed single-clutch automatic gearbox. This, of course, is way more than the Venom GT, which had a 7.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine making 1,261 PS of power.

The Hennessey Venom F5 will just have the gearbox outsourced, rest being developed in-house. Mr. John Hennessey also added that Michelin will be up for full support for the tyres and would be making the best possible ones to be carrying such high speed.

Last year, Koenigsegg took the record from the Venom GT with the Agera RS in the United States. Hence, Hennessey feels that it's time to take it back with the Venom F5.
