NLEX Connector segment from Caloocan to España now open

MANILA: The government had stated that the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road was scheduled to open in March. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) kept its promise and officially opened the tollway's first section.

With on- and off-ramps at both ends, Section 1 of the NLEX Connector runs from C3 Road in Caloocan to Espana Boulevard in Manila City. It is anticipated that the 5.15 kilometer leg will cut the distance between the two places in half, to just five minutes. The operator Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) has yet to release the tollway's indicative rates, thus drivers will have to pay to pass through this area.

A P23 billion development undertaking, the NLEX-SLEX Connector Road will run 8 kilometers from Caloocan to Sta. Mesa, Manila, when finished. It will accommodate 35,000 vehicles per day and give trucks traveling to and from the Port of Manila access around-the-clock. Also, it is anticipated to lessen traffic in the metro areas it passes through.

The Skyway Stage 3 of San Miguel Corporation will eventually be connected to Paco, Manila, via the NLEX-SLEX Connector. By the start of 2024, this is anticipated to be finished.
