Omoda, Jaecoo showcase latest NEV models at Auto Shanghai 2025

MANILA: Omoda and Jaecoo celebrated their second anniversary at the Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai) by showcasing three new energy vehicles (NEV). 

First off are the C7 and C5 Super Hybrid System models, which are both marketed under the Omoda brand. Jaecoo, on the other hand, showed off the 5 battery electric vehicle (BEV). 

For now, Omoda and Jaecoo have not yet released detailed specifications for the aforementioned models. However, the SHS nameplates displayed at Auto Shanghai may have similar powertrains to the Jaecoo 7 SHS, which was previously previewed at the Manila International Auto Show 2025. 

As a reminder, the SHS on the J7 combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with dedicated hybrid batteries, an electric motor, and an intelligent hybrid transmission. At least on the upcoming J7, the SHS powertrain has the following maximum power and torque outputs:

Maximum horsepower output	340
Maximum torque output (in Newton-meters)	525 Nm

 

Similar to the Jaecoo 7 SHS, we can likewise guess that the C7 and C5 SHS models both have pure electric ranges of up to 151.6 kilometers. 

The Jaecoo 5 BEV, meanwhile, is more mysterious. It does have an internal combustion counterpart sold in other parts of the world known as the J5, but the all-electric version features a slightly different exterior design while retaining a boxy sports utility vehicle body shape. 

Omoda and Jaecoo: Full steam ahead

Per the two car brands, their participation at the Auto Shanghai 2025 signifies their commitment to implementing their global NEV strategy. As hinted at by Omoda’s new models, it will center around the SHS, as five more nameplates utilizing the aforementioned hybrid powertrain will be globally launched this year. 

Additionally, Omoda and Jaecoo have said that the J7 SHS has already seen considerable market penetration in several regions around the world. 

In Spain, the model managed to rank within the top three in plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sales in its first month, achieving a seven percent market share in the Spanish PHEV segment. 

In Malaysia, meanwhile, the J7 SHS has become a recognized model offering within the A-segment SUV PHEV category. The model also helped Omoda and Jaecoo become “the fastest-growing car brand” in the United Kingdom.
