Rox Motor enters PH market

MANILA: Chinese automotive marque Rox Motor has formally entered the Philippine market — which marked its first foray in the Southeast Asian region.

The emerging electric vehicle marque (brought to the country by the Transcorp Group — an affiliate of Sinoequip Incorporated, and Transequip Enterprises) was officially launched to the local market with the introduction of the 01 sport utility vehicle (SUV).

In an interview, Transcorp Group Vice President and Managing Director Bryan Chua expressed confidence in the newly-unveiled model, which he said, is gaining ground in other parts of the globe like Azerbaijan, Kuwait and Qatar.

“The new offering is perfect for the Philippines because we are an SUV country, it is a well-rounded vehicle and it is perfect for glamping,” he told Zigwheels Philippines.

Vehicle specifications

The Rox 01 measures 5,295 millimeters (mm) long; 1,980 mm wide; and 1,869 mm tall with a 3,010-mm wheelbase, 205-mm ground clearance, and water wading capability of up to 700 mm.

The boxy SUV features a flipped L-shaped LED head- and tail lamps, chiseled front and rear fascia. Depending on the chosen trim, the vehicle rides on 20-21-inch wheels (polished black or chrome finish) either wrapped with radial or all-terrain tires.

Inside the Rox 01 are tan, black, or white, leather portions that cover the seats, center console and other portions of the vehicle; as well digital displays at the front (12.3-inch gauge cluster and 15.7-inch infotainment system), and a monitor for the rear passengers.

The middle row is fitted with a pair of electronically-adjustable aviation chairs and its trunk has a depth of over two meters.

Propelling the Rox 01 are dual electric motors powered by a 56.01-kilowatt-hour battery and a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine that acts as a generator. The power bank gives the vehicle an electric range of up to 235 kilometers.

Chua shared that with a full tank and a juiced-up battery, the SUV can cover more than 1,000 kilometers.

It also comes with five drive modes namely Snow, Mud, Rock, Sand, and Water.

Further, the newly-revealed model has a vehicle-to-load function, a trailer camping set, stepboard, and a huge roof rack as original equipment add-ons.

•  Luxury (six-seater): P4.288 million
• Sport (seven-seater): P4.388 million

To note the company that brought in Rox Motor is the same firm that launched another Chinese EV brand Hycan and its three-model roster.
