KEY TAKEAWAYS
When will the Suzuki e Vitara's production and sales commence?
The Suzuki e Vitara's production and sales shall start next year.On what concept vehicle was the Suzuki e Vitara based?
The new offering is based on the Suzuki eVX concept.Dubbed as the Suzuki e Vitara, the newest offering was based on the eVX Concept (which was showcased at the recently-concluded 9th Philippine International Motor Show).
Production for the brand’s premiere BEV offering will start in Spring (March or April) of 2025 and sales are expected to commence shortly after in various countries including Europe, India, and Japan.
Below are the specifications of the Suzuki e Vitara.
Specifications
Developed under the concept of “Emotional Versatile Cruiser,” the Suzuki e Vitara combines advanced technology and strength, spearheaded by the Allgrip-e electric four-wheel-drive system and the newly-developed Heartect-e platform.
Design
Carrying the design theme “High Tech and Adventure”, the Suzuki e Vitara kept the nameplate’s robust look while exuding a modern BEV appeal.
Outside, the vehicle wears bold and sharp lines that complement its long wheelbase and large-diameter tires.
Meanwhile, its cabin boasts an integrated display with advanced equipment and tough-looking panels and center console.
Drivetrain
The Suzuki e Vitara is powered by one or two eAxles that combine the motor/s and inverter, together with the lithium iron-phosphate batteries. The Allgrip-e is made up of two independent eAxles placed on both ends of the vehicle. Per Suzuki, the system provides powerful performance and allows for precise control with excellent responsiveness.
It also has Trail mode that lets the vehicle escape from rough terrain by applying brakes to spinning tires and distributing drive torque to the opposite tire (LSD function).
Technology
Further, the Suzuki Heartect-e features a lightweight structure, high-voltage protection, and a spacious interior due to the short overhang. The main floor eliminates the underfloor members to maximize battery capacity.
“The e Vitara is our first BEV, developed through repeated trial and error to create an easy-to-use BEV for our customers. In order to realize a carbon-neutral society, we will provide a variety of options, including BEVs, hybrid vehicles, and CNG vehicles, tailored to specific regions. Introduction of the e Vitara represents a significant milestone in achieving carbon neutrality. Following the launch of the e Vitara, we will continue to expand our BEV line-up and propose mobility solutions tailored to the needs of specific countries and regions,” Suzuki President Toshihiro Suzuki said.
