Audi RS 5 Sportback

The Audi RS 5 Sportback has got a stunning looking cabin, which comes with an array of premium elements offered as part of the standard package of the car. The entire cabin layout is shared with the RS 5 Coupe, but gets a more spacious cabin compared to the latter. However, the sloping roofline brings in a compromise in headroom for taller people.

The cabin is finished in exquisite Nappa leather upholstery with honeycomb pattern, with the seats, dashboard panels, door panels and flat-bottom steering wheel getting contrast tango red stitching. The seats and steering wheel are embossed with sporty RS emblems. The car expectedly gets a fancy Audi Virtual Cockpit design for the instrument console, a pop-up rectangular touchscreen infotainment system with special RS menus and a minimalist and elegant dashboard with carbon fiber touches.

The Audi RS 5 Sportback is essentially the four-door version of the RS 5 Coupe, with added design elements and length giving it a more poised stance over the latter. The overall design stays true to Audi’s latest design language, which makes it looks fresh and sharp in the process.

The frontal look of the Audi RS 5 Sportback has got a sharp looking hexagonal grille in the center, which is wide and lends an aggressive look to the front. This grille, along with large and sharply laid out fog lamp housings, get premium looking honeycomb inserts with gloss black finish. There are small air vents placed between the grille and the fog lamp housings, which add to the aerodynamic appeal of the car. This appeal is further enhanced by smooth curved contours on the front bonnet. The curvy-themed LED headlamps have got fragmented LED daytime running lamps, which matches the cool quotient of the car.

The Audi RS 5 Sportback looks very planted and balanced when viewed from the sides. The frameless door panels give it a niche look, while the sloping roofline towards the back adds more to the visual drama of the car. The 20-inch wheels of the car look very beautiful in their bronze finish.

At the back, the Audi RS 5 Sportback shares much of the design with the two-door RS 5 Coupe. The car comes with sleek and horizontally stretched LED tail lamps which have tapered edges towards the inside. Rounding up the sporty look at the back are RS-specific diffuser insert above the spoiler lip and RS-specific exhaust ports.

The Audi RS 5 Sportback has got all the right elements when it comes to chassis. Riding on 20-inch wheels, the chassis of the Audi RS 5 Sportback has got Quattro all-wheel-drive system as standard. This works flawlessly with the RS Sport Suspension Plus, which comes with Dynamic Ride Control (DRC).

Matching the sporty visual aura of the Audi RS 5 Sportback is its 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine, which it shares with the RS 5 Coupe. The engine has the capability to produce maximum power and torque outputs of 450 bhp and 600 Nm. Coupled to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, the engine can propel the car from the standstill to 100 kmph mark in just 3.9 seconds. 

The Audi RS 5 Sportback has been equipped with a state-of-the-art safety equipment list. It comes with all the modern advanced driving assistance systems one can think of, including lane change assist, lane departure alert, blind-spot monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, autonomous braking and more. Regular features like airbags all around, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control and more are part of the package as well.

The Audi RS 5 Sportback might not be too comfortable like any other regular four-door sedan for daily usage. What it surely packs in is a lot of visual drama for a four-door car, with premium and sporty styling in and out, exhilarating performance and dynamically sorted chassis working in its favour.
