Chevrolet Sail

As you get inside the Chevrolet Sail, you will notice that the automaker has kept the design and layout to minimal but the overall ergonomics ooze out practicality with complete focus on functionality. Coming to the dashboard, we see a three-spoke steering wheel which has silver garnishing to make it glossier. The instrument console behind the steering wheel looks conventional, but upgrading the otherwise simple style quotient is the blue backlit on the dashboard screen. 

The centre-instrument console although has a refreshing design with overflowing shades, but it looks a bit antiquated due to absence of a touchscreen infotainment system. Instead, you get a functional 2-DIN music system with ubiquitous features of Bluetooth, audio and automatic climate controls. To check for a list of prominent features, we do not see any major cosmetic elements that can speak for the interior aesthetics. For the essential feature list, we have the electrically adjustable and foldable rear-view mirrors, adjustable steering wheel, height-adjustable driver seat and electric sunroof. 

The cabin space offered by Chevrolet Sail is pretty enough to accommodate all occupants with utmost comfort and convenience. There are adequate legroom and headroom for all the five passengers. 

Just like the interior design and layout, the exterior aesthetics of Chevrolet Sail are also subtle, simple and minimalistic by design. Sail is built on the previous-generation platform, which somehow subdues its style game among the cars from the same segment. The front fascia of the car is highlighted with split chrome grille with the brand’s logo housed in the middle of the grille design. What looks premium is the chrome outlining on both sides of the front grille. The headlamps are present, but the lack of LED Daytime Running Lights is a miss.  

The side profile of the Chevrolet Sail looks a little elongated, owing to the long wheelbase. There is nice contouring of curves and sharp character lines, running all over the body of the car. This also enhances the otherwise subtle view of the side profile of the car. The rear profile also looks masculine and sportier due to the sharp kinks on the boot lid and a tail-lamp cluster. Dimensions wise, the Chevrolet Sail looks like a premium sedan which does make an impact while the car is on roads. 

The suspension duties are handled by Macpherson strut and stabilizer bar at the front and non-independent torsion beam at the rear. The set-up works together to offer a pleasurable ride to the passengers. The steering wheel is also light in weight, which allows the driver to have a better grip at busy city traffic roads or at highways. 

Under the bonnet, the Chevrolet Sail has two engine options – a 1.3-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. While the former produces 100 PS of power and 127 Nm of torque, the latter is good enough to churn a maximum power output of 110 PS and a peak torque output of 141 Nm. While the 1.3-litre engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the 1.5-litre mill is being offered only with a 4-speed torque converter.

The Chevrolet Sail is equipped with all the essential basic and standard safety features. The list includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, seatbelt pre-tensioners with force limiters, ISOFIX mounts for child seats, reverse parking sensors, and engine immobilizer.
