Chevrolet Tracker Interior & Features
Chevrolet has kept things quite simple on the inside of the Tracker. The overall layout of the cabin looks modern and up to date, but it nowhere seems overboard with unnecessary flashy elements.
The driver’s cockpit of the Chevrolet Tracker looks decent with a wing-themed three-spoke steering wheel and dual pod design for the analog instrument console. In this day and age of digital layouts, the instrument console of the Tracker lacks modernity here. However, the Tracker compensates for this with the rest of the design of the dashboard. The slightly protruding out center console has a pop-up style touchscreen infotainment system above it, while it houses the panel for the automatic climate control.
The all-black cabin of the Chevrolet Tracker gets nice contrast silver and red bits which makes it feel sporty. The cabin is decently equipped with features like an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, panoramic sunroof, height-adjustable driver seat and push start-stop button. However, we would have loved to see more features onboard.
Tracker Exterior
The overall design of the Chevrolet Tracker is something that is completely different from the Chevrolets of the past – it’s edgy and youthful. At the same time, it has successfully managed to look unique with all possible modern features and styling elements at places.
The Chevrolet Tracker manages to look sleek and sharp when viewed head-on, which is possible due to sleek trapezoidal LED headlamps joined by a slim bar of the upper grille. The lower part of the grille is actually bigger, with its trapezoidal design with tapered lower edges having horizontal slats in between. The bumper gets slim vertical LED lights on its corners, with it getting thin body cladding and skid plate at its bottom.
The side profile of the Chevrolet Tracker too looks sharp and aggressive with a couple of sharp creases flowing sideways, over the front and rear fenders. The SUV comes with body cladding over the trapezoidal wheel arches and bottom portions of the door panels. The alloy wheels and outer rear view mirrors are finished in a theme of black in the LT Redline variant, which also gets red accents on them.
The rear profile of the Chevrolet Tracker has been designed quite simple when compared to the rest of the design of the SUV. The clean design for the boot lid and horizontally laid tail lamps with LED inserts make it look much sober than how the SUV looks from front and side.
Chevrolet Tracker Ride & Handling
The Chevrolet Tracker is a monocoque urban-oriented crossover that gets Macpherson struts at the front and compound crank axle at the rear. The suspension has been tuned on a slightly stiffer edge to give it sporty handling, but it is well-planted enough on broken roads as well. Body roll is well under control too.
Tracker Engine & Fuel Consumption
The Chevrolet Tracker is the first mass-market offering from the company in the Philippines car market to feature a turbocharged petrol engine – a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine in this case. Available with a 6-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive layout as standard, the engine in the Chevrolet Tracker produces 116 bhp of maximum power and 175 Nm of maximum torque. The engine feels decently powerful for an SUV of this size, however, more power on tap would have been appreciated.
Chevrolet Tracker Braking & Safety
The Chevrolet Tracker is packed with modern safety features like front and side airbags, reverse parking sensors with camera, ABS with EBD, cornering brake control, traction control, electronic stability control, engine drag control, panic brake assist, hill start assist, rollover mitigation and enhanced understeer control.
Tracker Verdict
The Chevrolet Tracker is a make-or-break model for the American automaker in the Philippines. The compact SUV manages to do the job finely with its smart design, decent equipment and spacious cabin. The engine could have had additional poke on tap, but it still ranks in as a decently powerful and refined mill.
