Geely Azkarra

From the inside, the Geely Azkarra looks like a tech-fest on wheels, with the cabin having a very ahead-of-its-time kind of vibe. There are many bits in the cabin, like the very funky looking 7-inch full TFT display for the instrument console, the large and wide 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system encased in a pentagonal housing, the layered theme for the soft-touch black and brown leather trims as well as a panoramic sunroof, which make the Geely Azkarra look very trendy.

The cabin is finished in top-notch leather, and apart from the aforementioned features, the SUV also gets additional likeable things like a wireless phone charger, 360-degree camera, CN95 cabin filter, hands-free tailgate and electronic parking brake, which take its overall appeal and desirability a couple of notches above. Even in terms of space too, the Geely Azkarra impresses very much with enough room on offer.

Geely has made rewarding efforts to make the Azkarra as modern and different as possible, and it works quite well in the favor of the Chinese automaker. The SUV looks proportionate, with sharp and distinctive lines as well as upright stance does make it look noticeable while on the road.

At the front, the Geely Azkarra wears the brand’s trademark ‘rippled effect’ grille, which has three chrome finished pentagonal layers one into another. This front grille is slightly protruding forward, with the pair of full LED headlamps tucked in slightly backwards. 

The nice contours emerging from the front bonnet flow nicely towards the side profile through smooth bulges over the front wheel arches. The wheel arches, along with the bottom portion of the doors as well as front and rear bumpers do get tough-looking black plastic cladding. The rest of the side profile looks clean, with a sharp crease flowing through the door panels, and a sharp kink in the window shoulder line rising from the C-pillar towards the rear. The entire window frame here has been given chrome surround. 

From the back, the Geely Azkarra tries to look sporty and muscular, with a raked windscreen and a nice looking roof-mounted spoiler above it. There is a fine strip of chrome running in between the sweptback curved tail lamps, which have the brand name ‘Geely’ embossed on it in a wide layout. 

The overall suspension setup of the Geely Azkarra, which is a combination of Macpherson struts with coil springs at the front and multi-link setup at the rear, has been tuned on a softer side to make sure it offers a supple low-speed ride. The electric power steering of the SUV gets three different modes, with variable feedback in each one of them.

The Geely Azkarra has been blessed with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, however, the Luxury variant of the SUV gets an additional 48V mild-hybrid technology for the engine. This engine makes 177 PS of power and 255 Nm of torque with a 6-speed automatic gearbox in the Premium variant, while in the Luxury variant, it belts out 190 PS of power and 300 Nm of torque with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox on offer.

The Geely Azkarra has been armed with premium safety features onboard like the front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, electronic parking brake, 360-degree around-view camera and front and rear parking sensors.

The Geely Azkarra feels a supremely modern vehicle by every bit, thanks to its flamboyant interior cabin and proportionate exterior design, with a commanding stance of its own. The engine scores good on refinement levels for a three-cylinder mill, however, the power at lower rpms could have been peppier.
