Kaicene Star Truck

While the equipment levels in the cabin of the Kaicene Star Truck look below average, this compact-sized truck has a nice layout for the dashboard, which looks impressive for a budget-oriented commercial vehicle. However, the quality levels of the panels and gaps feel below average.

The driver’s cockpit of the Kaicene Star Truck includes a three-spoke steering wheel with a twin-pod instrument console behind it. It also comes with a wraparound theme for the centre console, which has rectangular AC vents at the top, a 1-DIN audio system in the middle and rounded controls for the air conditioner at the bottom. The dashboard also has rounded AC vents on either side, with the co-passenger side having a carved cavity for storing small things.

The Kaicene Star Truck has a very generic design when it comes to exterior appearance. While the overall design is not too good enough to make heads turn, it is not dated enough to make it look pale.

At the front, the Kaicene Star Truck tries to have an aerodynamic appeal with slanted designs for the windscreen and apron. This rakish design is further accompanied by the slanted design of the front grille, which looks large and wide and has multiple horizontal slats within it. The trapezoidal grille is flanked by a sweptback trapezoidal set of halogen headlamps, which also come integrated with turn indicators.

The Kaicene Star Truck is one of those few commercial vehicles in its segment, which comes with body-coloured front and rear bumpers, with the front bumper coming integrated with trapezoidal housings for the fog lamps. The muscularity of the front bumper is further enhanced by a large rectangular air dam in the middle.   

The side profile of the Kaicene Star Truck looks simple but has a sense of character due to the two sharp creases flowing through the door panels. Even the window panels look nice with their slanted design at the front and bottom, while the rear panel of the driver’s cabin has a rounded rectangular window at the back. This window is further protected by a two-slat cage.

The Kaicene Star Truck also comes with a flatbed, which can be accessed by folding down the deck lids from all three sides. The rear bumper, which is also body-coloured, comes with rectangular tail lamps on either side.

Given its nature as a heavy-duty compact commercial vehicle, the Kaicene Star Truck is not an enthusiastic vehicle to drive. However, the Star Truck has a rugged chassis beneath it, further accompanied by a suspension combination comprising leaf springs at both ends. The Kaicene Star Truck rides on 14-inch steel wheels shod with tubeless tyres.

The powertrain employed for the Kaicene Star Truck is a 1.2-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine, which is capable of producing a maximum power output of 96 PS and a peak torque output of 119 Nm. The transmission unit offered in the Kaicene Star Truck is a 5-speed manual gearbox, which is the standard gearbox available in this compact-sized pickup.

Since the Kaicene Star Truck is a budget-oriented commercial vehicle, which has been designed following low-cost engineering tactics, it misses out on even some of the essential safety features like airbags and ABS. However, it gets a lockable passenger cabin and seat belts for both the occupants in the cabin.

For its price and targeted audience, the Kaicene Star Truck comes across as a decent product which performs the basic functionality of transporting goods from point A to point B with minimal hassle. The quality levels and reliability are still a long way to go for the Kaicene Star Truck, though it offers decent performance and load-carrying capacity among commercial vehicles of its price.
