Kaicene Honor S

The Kaicene Honor S has a very basic-looking interior layout, which is finished in a theme of black. The AC controls have gloss black surrounds, but apart from that, the entire cabin is wrapped in black hard plastics, which makes the cabin of the Kaicene Honor S look and feel a bit low quality.

The three-spoke steering wheel of the Kaicene Honor S misses out on steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, which along with the all-analogue instrument console, make the driver’s cockpit look very basic. The majority of the asymmetric centre console is covered by the 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which happens to be the only modern thing in this basic-looking cabin. The AC vents, transmission lever and inner door handle come with satin silver surrounds, which somehow try to add some premium look to the cabin.

While the Kaicene Honor S is a disappointment in cabin quality and features, it scores nicely in terms of space. All three rows of the Honor S come with a decent amount of space for a vehicle of its size.

The Kaicene Honor S is not a modern design to talk much about, but it comes across as a decently styled MPV, which is easy on the eyes of a conventional audience. The overall design of the Kaicene Honor S is that of a traditional boxy-looking van-like MPV, which serves the purpose of a budget-oriented vehicle decently.

At the front, the Kaicene Honor S has a trapezoidal grille, which has tapered edges at the bottom and comes with two whisker-like chrome slats in its upper part. There are trapezoidal-shaped headlamp clusters attached on either side of the grille, which has stretched extensions on their upper edges. These headlamp housings come integrated with projector bulbs, while there are trapezoidal fog lamps neatly integrated into the large front bumper corner housings. The central air dam, around the fog lamp housings, is covered in thick black cladding and comes integrated with a silver scuff plate, which adds a bit of a rugged look to the MPV.

The side profile of the Kaicene Honor S has a simple, boxy look to it, though it gets a sharply flowing curve sideways, which adds some character to it. Like in traditional vans, the Kaicene Honor S also gets sliding-type side doors and large, square-shaped window panels. The side profile of the Honor 8 is complete with body-coloured door handles and rearview mirrors, 14-inch alloy wheels and turn indicators integrated into the rearview mirrors.

The rear profile of the Kaicene Honor S has a drab and almost vertical layout with a rectangular windscreen covering the upper half and curved tail lamps with LED inserts on the corners of the boot lid. The rear bumper has a slim design and is covered with black cladding, while neatly integrating the reverse lamps and a silver skid plate.

Based on a traditional ladder-on-frame chassis, the Kaicene Honor S comes with Macpherson struts at the front and a live axle with leaf springs at the rear. While this suspension setup makes the Kaicene Honor S feel rugged over broken sections of the roads as well, the large boxy appearance and leaf springs make the ride quality and handling feel below average. The Kaicene Honor S measures 4450mm long, 1685mm wide and 1809mm tall.

The Kaicene Honor S is powered by a conventional 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine. This powertrain is available with a 5-speed manual gearbox as the standard transmission and pumps out a maximum power output of 104 bhp and a peak torque output of 142 Nm.

Despite it being positioned as a basic people mover, the Kaicene Honor S is decently equipped with essentials like dual front airbags and ABS with EBD. It also comes with reverse parking sensors and ISOFIX mounts for child seats.

The Kaicene Honor S might not be a desirable vehicle to own with its very basic-looking exterior and drab interior. However, in terms of practicality, the Honor S feels decent, with a composed ride quality over broken roads and a spacious cabin.
