Kawasaki KLX300

For starters, the Kawasaki KLX300 measures 2,175 mm in length, 820 mm in width, 1,185 mm in overall height, and 895 mm in seat height. This dual-sport motorcycle also comes with a 1,440-mm wheelbase and a 275-mm ground clearance.

The KLX300 showcases a “sharp, flowing design” that blends black and coloured elements, similar to Kawasaki’s KX motocross machines. Its front end is illuminated by an imposing compact LED headlamp and a pair of sturdy round signal lights. In addition, its fascia looks very rugged, highlighted by its muscular front cowl and sharp beak. Its round mirrors give it a no-nonsense look.

Meanwhile, its lightweight, high-tensile steel perimeter frame is prominently displayed in the side profile. Its bronze-finished inverted fork and aluminum D-section swingarm add more detail and personality to its silhouette. This dual-sport motorcycle is fitted with robust spoke wheels (21-inch at the front, 18-inch at the rear) wrapped in off-road tyres, which deliver great grip on the trails. Aside from that, its rear features a rectangular LED tail lamp and another pair of turn signals. Its two-toned exhaust adds more sportiness to its overall appearance on the road.

Up front, the rider has access to a digital instrument display that comes with several warning/indicator lights, a clock, a digital speedometer, a bar-type tachometer, and an odometer. Its urethane seat ensures that the rider maintains a relaxed, upright riding position at all times. However, its saddle is better suited for short trail and city rides, considering its height and narrow design. But to be fair, this dual-sport motorcycle is not designed for long-distance touring.

The Kawasaki KLX300 comes with an Inverted Fork suspension at the front and a Uni-Trak Swingarm at the rear. This setup contributes to this dual-sport motorcycle’s sharp and precise handling on tight turns and curves. It also soaks up light to moderate off-road terrain conditions quite well, leading to a satisfying, pliant riding experience for adventure seekers. 

Meanwhile, in the city, it is also capable of cruising through bumpy, uneven concrete pavements. It is very agile yet remains durable enough to withstand the city’s unpleasant weather and road conditions. That said, the KLX300 is confidence-inspiring to ride both on- and off-road.

The Kawasaki KLX300 is powered by a 292cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, DOHC engine that produces 26 hp of maximum power and 24 Nm of maximum torque. This dual-sport motorcycle comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

This dual-sport motorcycle packs quite a nice punch off the line. It delivers sufficient torque for steep inclines and light to moderate hill climbs. Its power delivery is lively yet very manageable, making it a rider-friendly motorcycle. 

One of its main downsides, however, is its limited 7.5-L fuel tank capacity. But, on the plus side, it offers decent fuel economy for its class, whether you are navigating through trails or passing through stop-and-go traffic. With this in mind, the KLX300 is an enjoyable ride for your daily work commutes and short leisure trips within the Metro.

In terms of safety, the Kawasaki KLX300 is equipped with side reflectors and an engine check warning. This dual-sport motorcycle comes with front and rear single petal disc brakes (250 mm at the front, 240 mm at the rear).

The Kawasaki KLX300 effectively combines sharp and precise handling with rider-friendly performance. It showcases Kawasaki’s mastery in producing two-wheeled machines that are enjoyable off-road while remaining rideable inside the city.
