At a time when middleweight supersport motorcycles are on the verge of extinction, Kawasaki is keeping hopes alive with the ZX-6R. One of the most accomplished middleweight supersport of all times, the Kawasaki ZX-6R in its latest version is the most agile and powerful motorcycle to date. Priced at PHP 672,000, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R is available in two paint schemes – Matte Black and Green.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R has always set high standards for its sharp looks and stance, and the new version has taken the bars of expectations even higher. The new bike looks larger and sharper than before, bringing it even closer to a liter-class bike’s stance.
Wearing the latest design philosophy derived from the Ninja H2, the new Kawasaki ZX-6R has a pouncing forward frontal stance with a new set of bigger dual LED headlamps and a beak in between the two at the bottom.
The turn indicators are now mounted on the side portions of the fairing in a vertical manner, much like what we have seen in the Ninja 300. The fairing mounted rearview mirrors and transparent visor too have redesigned to match with the new design.
The side fairing, as well as fuel tank, have got new designs, with a much more sculpted form to give it a bigger bike appeal. The same can be said about the new single exhaust pipe and uplifted tailpiece with a split seat design.
Speaking of the tailpiece, the pillion seat is now positioned even higher, which will be a trouble for the pillion rider with decreased comfort levels. The LED tail lamp and a short rear fender grace the rear look of the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R.
Even the rider’s cockpit too is completely all-new, which has a modern appeal to it, with split and fully adjustable handlebars and a part digital instrument console, which has a centralised tachometer and an LCD panel to its right displaying speedometer, odometer, trip meters, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, power mode selected, traction mode selected, clock and average fuel efficiency.
Apart from the engine, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R’s core strength lies in its fantastic chassis, which comprises of upside-down hydraulic telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock with aluminum swingarm at the rear, both of which are fully adjustable.
In the true supersport tradition, the rider on the Ninja ZX-6R sits forward, with rear-set footpegs aiding in giving the perfect and ready to race riding posture. However, this very riding position along with limited pillion comfort and stiff suspension setup makes daily riding duties not so practical and comfortable.
With twin petal disc brakes at the front and a single petal disc brake at the rear, the braking capabilities of the Ninja ZX-6R too are unquestionable.
The new Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R shares its four-stroke, liquid-cooled, inline-four, fuel-injected, 636cc engine from its predecessor. However, it has been tuned to provide even better performance levels, with the maximum power output rated at 127 PS and a peak torque output of 70.8 Nm. These figures do make it not only the most powerful middleweight Ninja to date but also the most powerful middleweight supersport motorcycle in the current times.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R, being a present generation supersport machine, is equipped with the best of electronic aids, the list of which includes ABS, Kawasaki Intelligent Braking System (KIBS), three-mode traction control, assist and slipper clutch, quick shifter and power mode selector, which enables full control of the rider on the motorcycle.
The Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R manages to give unadulterated levels of thrills of a litre-class supersport motorcycle, in a slightly smaller and easier to handle package. Talking about the core aspects, the Ninja ZX-6R gets a fantastic engine to thrive on, with a great balance of under the skin mechanicals and electronic aids, which makes the rider eager to ride and explore it more and more every single time.
US prices decreased by $1,700. Philippine price hasn't decreased yet. Instead they increased it despite no additional features being added to the bike this 2020 model year.
Unlike other middleweight motorcycles, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R seems like a wonderful evolution in terms of both performance and design. The motorcycle, in my opinion, still has the aggressiveness needed in a middleweight supersport, which makes it so much desirable. Adding to it, the fact that it is the lightest and most powerful ZX-6R till date makes it even more
