Suzuki Gixxer SF250

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 has a very sporty appeal in its design. The clip-on handlebars and the seat structure brings a semi-committed riding position, much more than the 155cc sibling. It holds chrome embellishments on its dual-port exhaust. The front gets a 110-section tire, while the rear gets a 150-section rubber, both of wheels been 17-inch. The seat height of 800 mm makes it accessible to a wider audience range, including riders on the shorter side.

The windscreen visor is not very tall, but has a sporty bend and is extremely functional in deflecting wind off the rider’s body, if not completely at its best. The digital meter offers loads of information for the rider, including trip meters, odometer, fuel gauge, tacho, and speedometer.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is nothing less in terms of its riding capabilities. The 110 mm front and 150 mm rear tires are round profile and have good grip for cornering capabilities. The linear power delivery makes it very friendly for both cities as well as highways. The suspension setup is tuned for sporty riding, which makes it a little on the harder side for bumpy city roads.

The fuel tank capacity of 12 liter makes it apt for long highway rides as well. The exhaust note is quite throaty, which makes it exciting for the riders to throttle harder.

Coming to the engine, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 has more of a modest engine compared to the KTMs and Yamahas. The 249cc engine makes a maximum power of 26.1 hp at a maximum of 9,300 rpm, along with a peak torque of 22.2 Nm, which comes at a maximum of 7,500 rpm. The power and torque delivery are very linear throughout the rev range. The torque transmission to the engine is distributed even at lower RPMs, making it easier for the rider to get on the gas from 30 kmph, even if the bike is on the 3rd or 4th gear.

The power is transferred to the wheel via a 6-speed gearbox, which has tall gearing ratios, making it a perfect motorcycle for the city roads as well.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 gets disc brakes at both ends, along with dual-channel ABS. The anti-lock braking system is quite effective. The disc brake has a strong bite, though the ABS, once into play, makes things a lot safer at high speeds.

The thick tires have a strong grip on corners and even on wet roads, to some extent. This makes the overall traction coming from the rubber reliable. As for the features in the electronics, there are side reflectors, something that’s extremely handy on city roads after dark. Apart from that, the lightweight chassis and the easy handling make for a good safety feature to have in situations of heavy traffic.

The Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is considered to be a premium quarter-litre single-cylinder sports bike. The power figures aren’t the most exciting in the segment, though the way the acceleration works is quite commendable, making it perfect for both city roads as well as the highway. It does not feel underpowered at all, and the design replicates that of a sports bike completely.
