The suspension system of the Yamaha XMAX is a bit on the firmer side. But it still manages to provide a good balance between comfort and handling, especially at higher speeds. This setup makes the maxi-scooter feel stable and planted when cornering or riding on highways. On extremely rough roads, the rear suspension may feel slightly stiff, particularly if riding solo without additional weight.

The Yamaha XMAX is hauled by a liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, Blue Core 252cc engine that produces 28 PS/29 Nm. The motor is paired with a CVT. The two-wheeler delivers smooth and linear power, making it ideal for city traffic and highway cruising. It accelerates briskly for a scooter of its size, with enough torque to handle inclines and overtaking manoeuvres with ease. 

For a scooter of its size, the Yamaha XMAX is surprisingly nimble in traffic. The tall, upright riding position and wide handlebars offer excellent control, allowing for quick directional changes when weaving through congested streets. The wheels provide confidence-inspiring grip while turning sharp corners.

Though it’s performance-oriented, the Yamaha XMAX remains fuel-efficient, returning a mileage of around 30kmpl, depending on riding conditions.

Both wheels of the Yamaha XMAX get disc brakes. These provide strong and responsive braking, ensuring control under various road conditions. The hydraulic system ensures smooth and consistent braking performance, with a well-balanced feel between the front and rear.

The Yamaha XMAX gets antilock braking as part of standard equipment. This prevents wheel lock-up during sudden braking, improving stability and reducing the risk of skidding, particularly on wet or slippery surfaces. 

Yamaha XMAX comes with traction control. It prevents wheel spin by adjusting power delivery.

The Yamaha XMAX is available in a single model in the Philippines. Prices start at ₱306,000. Though it’s expensive than most rivals, the Yamaha XMAX is an outstanding maxi-scooter that delivers a strong combination of power, comfort, and technology. It’s an all-rounder in the maxi-scooter category.
