MANILA: Despite the merger of Hino Motors Limited with Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation through the new joint venture, Archion Corporation, each company will retain its respective brand identity.

At JMS 2025, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation showcased the H2FC and HSIC hydrogen prototypes and the Cobodi cargo system prototype.The aforementioned was shared with Zigwheels Philippines and other media delegates by Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation Chief Executive Officer Karl Deppen, who will also serve in the same role in Achrion Corporation.
“We will maintain both brands. We will each continue as the Hino brand and as the Fuso brand. That is the ambition. And therefore, we will each continue our cooperation with our current partners in the market,” Deppen said.
“We really much appreciate the loyalty of our customers on the Fuso side. They know our product capabilities, service capabilities, and so we will continue to deliver on our brand promise. And the Hino team will do the same. So, we want our distinct market appearance, and this is what we will continue to pursue,” Deppen added.
Furthermore, Karl Deppen shared that while the two companies are more than willing to share technologies and engineering know-how with each other. The aforementioned was initially confirmed by Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer of Archion Corporation Satoshi Ogiso when the merger was announced. In addition, Deppen clarified that the said exchanges are meant to align with what customers want and need.
“This is part of the idea. We will want to enhance the scale in terms of product creation, but the customers will still get distinct products from Fuso and Hino. And the technology advancement is dependent on what the customer needs. It is regulation-driven, it is customer application-driven, and this is what we want to maintain - being close to the customers,” Deppen shared.
To note, Action Corporation will begin to consolidate five Japan-based manufacturing facilities into just three locations by 2028. It will likewise see its official launch in April 2026.

At JMS 2025, Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation introduced the H2FC and the H2IC prototypes. Both trucks are hydrogen-powered: the H2FC uses fuel cells to generate electricity similar to a battery electric vehicle (BEV), while the H2IC operates more like an internal combustion engine, albeit with hydrogen fuel.
