We’re almost about to wrap this year up and that means we’ve gone through plenty of road trips, ran a handful of errands, and visited memorable places with our beloved rides.

Refill fluids

It’s good practice to refill your car’s fluids, whether your vehicle is daily driven or used for weekend escapades.

Start with the easy ones, which include the engine oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant. You can check them by popping the hood open and refill them if necessary.

For those that require special tools like the air conditioning refrigerant, transmission fluid, and clutch fluid, it’s best to seek the assistance of a professional and have the fluids changed in a shop.

Doing so will allow your car to run smoothly and prevent unnecessary damage to its moving components.

Check your brakes

Another useful tip before you take on more adventures in 2024 is to check your brakes.

Have your brake pads checked by a pro and make replacements as necessary. Your brakes provide your car with stopping power, which will save you from getting into untoward incidents like hitting a wall in a parking lot or bumping the car in front of you when squeezing your way through heavy traffic.

Rotate, replace your tires

Rotating your tires or routinely repositioning them in specific patterns is important. Not only can it help preserve the tires’ lifespan but it will also allow you to inspect them for air pressure, balance, and thread depth.

After all, your tires are the only — and should be the only — part of your car that comes into contact with the road. So, it’s best to keep them in good condition.

If you believe or if your mechanic tells you that the tires have worn out, make sure to change them accordingly.

Inspect belts, hoses

Inspecting belts and hoses is also important to make your car 2024-ready.

Serpentine belts and timing belts are important since they ensure that the engine and the components attached to it are running simultaneously. In addition, you might want to check the quality of your car’s radiator hoses to make sure you do not run into overheating issues.

You do not want to run into these problems when going on long trips. You also do not want to be troubled with these complications while on toll roads and expressways as towing services could be expensive.

Make sure your lights are working

Like most of your car’s mechanical components, it’s also important to make sure that your vehicle’s lights are working properly.

These include your headlights, turn signals, and brake lights.

Not only can working lights allow you to communicate with the cars around you, but they can also save you from being fined by the authorities.
