MANILA: Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) announced a voluntary safety recall of 65,567 Honda cars which were sold in the country and is suspected with a defect in the inflator of the driver side bag. The vehicles recalled this time (in September) are

Honda CR-V (Model Year 2007-2011)

Honda Jazz (MY 2006, 2009-2012)

Honda Civic (2006-2011)

Honda City (2003-2011)

Honda Insight (2011-2012)

While the ones recalled in August were

Honda Accord (2003-2006)

Honda Civic (2004 & 2005)

Honda Pilot (2006-2007)

Ufff! Owning a Honda car has become troublesome! First you take an appointment with the nearest Honda Car service center then you wait there for an hour till the air bag inflator is replaced, but are all these efforts costly than your safety? The answer is for sure NO. Rather, all these are the part of Honda to ensure the safety of its customers wherein the parts and labor for this replacement are free of cost. HCPI apologizes for the inconvenience caused due to same, but at the same time we have to understand that Honda is responsible to work on precautions rather than on cure.

Foundation of this entire Chaos

Takata Corporation, a Japanese automotive parts supplier which has supplied airbags to numerous reputed auto brands like Mazda, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda. The problem cropped with defective propellant and inflator which could not deploy properly at the time of crash resulting into a serious concern. Honda has recalled 1.14 million vehicles worldwide with roughly 80,000 cars locally in the Philippines. The recall figures of other brands are also huge, but the Philippine recall counts do not contribute in it. Now, it raises the concern for other Toyota, Mazda, and Nissan owners in the Philippines.
