Bentley craft unique surfboard for charity

MANILA: Bentley, together with Marnie Surf Communities and Otter Surfboard, has collaborated to build a one-of-a-kind surfboard. 

According to Bentley, the unique-looking board showcases the expertise of its in-house artisans, as well as the craftsmanship and creativity of Otter Surfboard.

But apart from standing as a functional piece of art, the surfboard will also benefit a charitable organization. After its presentation to the public by Marnie Surf Communities, it will be auctioned off, with the proceeds from the sale going to Surfability United Kingdom (UK) - an organization that teaches inclusive surfing lessons and experiences for individuals with disabilities, injuries, and learning differences. 

Made out of Bentley Koa veneer sustainably sourced from Hawaii, the surfboard’s key material was chosen with the help of the car brand’s veteran craftsmen from its very own woodshop in Crewe, England.

The majority of the shaping and the finishing touches for the board, however, were performed by Otter Surfboards founder James Otter at his own workshop in Cornwall.

Per the British car brand, the surfboard showcases a level of craftsmanship not seen since the production of the Mulsanne four-door saloon. Specifically, it comes with a tasteful wood grain look, thus retaining the same quiet elegance of a flagship Bentley-made luxury vehicle.

Moreover, the material used to produce the board pays homage to the age-old method of surfboard crafting in Hawaii.

“At Bentley, craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do. Collaborating with Marnie Rays and Otter Surfboards to create this bespoke surfboard has been a real pleasure, with all involved dedicated to showcasing the beauty of craftsmanship whilst ensuring the project embodies the spirit of adventure,” Bentley Motors Digital Communications Manager Greg Drury said.

Besides its collaboration with Otter Surfboards and Marnie Communities, the Crewe-based carmaker previously showed off its latest lineup of models at the 2025 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition (Auto Shanghai).

• Bentley GT Convertible Azure
• Flying Spur Azure
