BYD Cars PH to launch Sealion 5 DM-i?

MANILA: BYD Cars Philippines will likely bring in the Sealion 5 DM-i to the local market.

Such is a possibility after the Land Transportation Office (LTO) shared the homologation papers about the vehicle prior to its official launch.

Here are some notable details about the probable addition to the Chinese automaker’s local Ocean Series.

Vehicle specifications

Based on the LTO records, the BYD Sealion 5 DM-i has the following measurements:

 Since it is a plug-in hybrid, the five-seater wagon is powered by both a 1.5-liter, four-pot engine and electric motor that can provide a peak electric power of 145 kilowatts. This allows the vehicle to reach a maximum speed of 170 kilometers per hour.

The powertrain of the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i’s bigger brother comes with a lithium-ion phosphate battery that can be fully juiced in 45 minutes (AC) to 11 hours (DC).

Lastly, BYD brought in two trims for the BYD Sealion 5 DM-I namely:

• Premium
• Dynamic

While the company has yet to announce its possible launch date, Zigwheels Philippines is guessing that the vehicle will be formally revealed real soon — judging how aggressive the ACMobility-led automotive distributor is in introducing products to the country.

For this year alone, BYD Cars Philippines already unveiled three models — starting the Seal 5 DM-i’s additional trim (January), Shark 6 DMO (March), and eMAX 7 (April).

The firm will likely add more as the year progresses.
