BYD Cars PH formally reveals eMAX 7 features, specs

MANILA: Prior to its scheduled public launch at the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) 2025, BYD Cars Philippines has revealed the specifications of the all-new eMAX 7 - its entry into the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) segment. 

For now, no pricing details were shared by the marque, but based on the said vehicle’s feature list, it stands in the MPV class as an option for buyers wanting to get a more premium seven-seater ride. It also has the distinction of being one of the few fully electric MPVs available in the market right now. 

“BYD Cars Philippines is thrilled to bring the all-new BYD eMAX 7 MPV to the Philippines,” Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines Bob Palanca said. 

“This vehicle will be another groundbreaking addition to our lineup and the MPV segment as we bring electrified mobility within reach of more Filipino families,” Palanca added.

Exterior

For its exterior design, the BYD eMAX 7 comes with a slick take on the MPV body shape. Clearly, it was optimized for aerodynamics, but it also boasts plenty of choice design details that make for an eye-catching vehicle. 

Complementing the shark-nosed front end of the vehicle is a pair of upswept LED headlamp clusters that combine LED daytime running lamps and turn signals with the main headlamps. Topping off the front fascia is a sculpted hood, while the bottom is capped by a shapely front bumper with a decent number of intake vents. 

From the side, the vehicle comes with an appropriate amount of character lines and chrome trimmings. It also has a set of large doors for easy ingress and egress and a set of elegantly styled 17-inch alloy wheels. 

The rear of the model, meanwhile, was fitted with large LED taillights that are linked together with a slim light bar. It also wears a roof-mounted spoiler and a shark fin antenna up top.

Other notable exterior features of the all-new eMAX 7 include the following: 

• Automatic headlamp functionality
• Power-folding side mirrors with heating
• Puddle lamps
• Power tailgate
• Panoramic sunroof (top-spec Superior Captain)
• Rear fog lamps

Interior

With regard to its interior configuration, the BYD eMAX 7 comes with two distinct arrangements depending on the trim. 

The entry-level variant, called the Standard, has a seven-seater arrangement, thanks to its bench-type second-row seats. The top-spec Superior Captain, on the other hand, offers a roomier six-seater arrangement, thanks to its second-row captain seats. 

On the top-spec BYD eMAX 7 Superior Captain, additional ease-of-use and comfort are provided by power-adjustable front seats coupled with a ventilation feature. 

Regardless, the two trims both have leather upholstery and automatic air-conditioning systems. The aforementioned also ensures air quality via its particulate matter 2.5 filters. 

Handling on-board entertainment for the all-new MPV is a 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Sound, on the other hand, is outputted by a six-piece speaker set. The said infotainment also has 4G connectivity, a voice assistant, and access to BYD’s cloud service. 

For charging devices on board the vehicle, it comes with several USB ports, a 12-volt accessory outlet, and a wireless charging pad.

Safety

As standard, the BYD eMAX 7 was equipped with driver and front passenger airbags, side airbags, and side curtain airbags. Both of its trims also come with ISOFIX, anti-lock braking, hill-hold control, tire pressure monitoring, a vehicle dynamic control system, 360-degree view camera, electronic stability control, and traction control - among others. 

Apart from its standard array of safety gear, the model also comes with advanced driver-assist systems, such as: 

• Adaptive cruise control (Superior Captain)
• Lane-keep assist
• Automatic emergency braking
• Lane departure assist
• Blind spot detection
• Predictive collision warning
• Rear collision warning
• Rear-cross traffic alert
• Rear-cross traffic braking
• Door open warning

Powertrain

Propelling the BYD eMAX 7 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor paired with a lithium iron phosphate battery. 

For the entry-level Standard, the BYD-made MPV can generate up to 160 horsepower (hp) and 310 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. The top-of-the-line BYD eMAX 7 Superior Captain, meanwhile, can churn out 201 hp and 310 Nm of torque. 

Concerning cruising range, the Standard has 420 kilometers (km), while the Superior Captain has 530 km from a single full charge. Both also come with CCS2 /Type 2 charging ports, with a direct current charging rate of 30 percent to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. 

Additionally, the model offers vehicle-to-load capability, which means it can be utilized to power appliances and tools. Each purchase of a BYD eMAX 7 also comes with a portable charging cable and a wall-mounted charger.

Availability

As mentioned above, the brand will officially reveal the pricing of the BYD eMAX 7 at the upcoming motoring event.

However, reservations for the all-new full-electric MPV are now available at all of the brand’s dealerships nationwide. 

For customers who want to see the BYD eMAX 7 in the metal, the 2025 MIAS is scheduled on April 10-13 at the World Trade Center Metro Manila in Pasay City.
