GAC GN6

For a compact MPV of its price, the GAC GN6 has a very plush and premium-looking dual-tone black and beige finish for its cabin, which makes it look very upmarket and expensive for its price. The long list of features offered in the GAC GN6 further enhances its premium appeal.

The GAC GN6 has a modern and attractive-looking full-TFT driver’s cockpit, which houses a 7-inch instrument console and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system sitting within a long rectangular housing. The GN6 has a three-spoke leather-wrapped multi-functional steering wheel, which is both tilt and telescopic adjustable, along with a flowing-down centre console which has switches for automatic climate control.

Keeping comfort and space at utmost priority, the GAC GN6 has impressive legroom, knee room, headroom, and shoulder room for all of its three rows. The other premium features offered in the GAC GN6 are a panoramic sunroof, powered driver’s seat, air purifier, ambient lighting, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear AC vents, wireless charger, and an 8-speaker audio system.

The GAC GN6 breaks the trend of MPVs being too functional in their appearance by having a trendy and extrovert design, which marks a departure from the traditional boxy stance of a three-row compact MPV. There are some design elements and subtle use of chrome, which help the GAC GN6 position itself as a premium compact MPV.

The front profile of the GAC GN6 features a huge cascading “flying dynamics” grille in the middle, which has three horizontal chrome slats making it look premium and eye-catching. The grille comes with sweptback slim all-LED headlamps on its sides, which feature eyebrow-shaped LED daytime running LEDs. The front bumper has an aerodynamic appearance, with it having tilted T-shaped housings for the LED fog lamps placed at the corners.

From the side, the GAC GN6 has a long and planted stance, thanks to its long wheelbase and smooth flowing curves over the door panels, which GAC has termed as jumping dolphin-inspired. The GN6 rides on 18-inch tyres wrapped over machined alloy wheels below the rounded wheel arches. To make it look premium even when viewed from the side, GAC has given a chrome finish for the upper part of the window frames and door-mounted rearview mirrors with integrated LED turn indicators.

Even at the back, the GAC GN6 continues its premium and striking appearance, with the MPV having sleek-looking combination LED tail lamps, which are connected by an LED light bar just below the rear windscreen. The bottom of the boot lid has the license plate housing, while the upper part has a roof-mounted spoiler featuring an integrated LED brake light.

While the space levels offered by the GAC GN6 are already impressive, the sense of comfort is further enhanced by the supple setup of the suspension combination – L-type Macpherson struts at the front and a high-rigidity torsion beam at the rear. However, the light steering setup can feel unnerving at higher speeds.

The GAC GN6 is provided with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine, which churns out a maximum power output of 171 PS and a peak torque output of 265 Nm. Paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Aisin, this engine offered in the GAC GN6 claims a maximum fuel efficiency of 13.5 kmpl.

For its price, the GAC GN6 packs in all the essentials, the list of which includes front, side and curtain airbags, ABS with EBD, brake assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, cruise control, 360-degree parking camera, rear parking sensors, traction control, hill start assist, hill descent control and electronic parking brake.

The GAC GN6 might not have a track record of bulletproof reliability as its Japanese rivals, but it comes across as a premium MPV for a similar price, with all the trendy features and a great sense of comfort and space, which people usually expect from an MPV in general.
