While the KIA Carens had been considered as a perfect family car, the recent upgrades of the model gave it a crossover-inspired styling putting it up against some popular MPV and crossover models like the Mitsubishi Xpander and Toyota Veloz. The new 2022 KIA Carens has been launched in the ASEAN market and the car has two engine options, a naturally-aspirated 1.5-litre Smartstream Gamma II engine, making 113 hp and 144 Nm of torque with Kia’s intelligent variable transmission (IVT), which is basically a CVT or a turbocharged 1.4-litre power plant that delivers 138 hp and 242 Nm of torque through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
