Denza’s initial offering in PH could be the D9 DM-i

MANILA: BYD’s premium sub-brand Denza is poised to have its formal launch soon and its initial offering will likely be the D9 DM-i.

Such a claim is based on the homologation records from the Land Transportation Office released early last month. 

To recall, BYD General Manager for Sales Asia Pacific Division Liu Xieliang announced that the premium sub-brand will enter the Philippines around late 2025. That time, he said that the brand launch for Denza will be made around the same time this year.

While waiting for BYD  to officially announce Denza's local distributor, let first check out the details about the soon-to-be-introduced nameplate.

Vehicle specifications

The Philippine-spec Denza D9 has the following measurements:

Powering the vehicle is dual model-intelligent plug-in hybrid system wherein the 1.5-liter internal combustion engine acts as a generator for the electric motor that has lithium iron phosphate battery.

Combined, the mill configuration can dish out as much as 228 horsepower — allowing the people carrier to reach a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour.

Further, it will come with 18-inch wheels wrapped in 235/60 tires.

Checking the model’s market abroad, the BYD Denza has the following features:

• Infotainment system in 14-speaker configuration
• Soft closing automatic doors
• Two glass roofs

Most likely, the model will not be seen at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show set on April 10-13.
