CALAX Subsection 3 now open

MANILA: The Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 3 is now open.

The new portion expands the expressway’s operational length to 26 kilometers from the Mamplasan Entry in Biñan, Laguna to General Trias, Cavite.

Travelling from Biñan, Laguna to General Trias, Cavite can be done in just 26 minutes instead one hour when using the 7.88-kilometer portion.

The newly-inaugurated CALAX Subsection 3—which is eyed to accommodate 6,000 motorists daily—provides an alternate route for commuters and businesses by bypassing locals roads within Cavite.

Leading the CALAX Subsection 3 opening ceremonies was President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.

In a statement, the toll operator mentioned that the entire 44.6-kilometer CALAX project will eventually link the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit to the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) in Mamplasan. This network features eight strategic interchanges namely:

• Laguna Technopark
• Laguna Boulevard
• Santa Rosa–Tagaytay
• Silang East, Silang (Aguinaldo)
• Governor’s Drive
• Open Canal
• Kawit

Once integrated, the combined CALAX-CAVITEX network is projected to serve up to 95,000 vehicles per day.

Further, the CALAX Subsection 3 (Governor’s Drive Interchange to Aguinaldo Interchange stretch) will not collect toll fees for one month across all classes. However, motorists need to settle the existing fees for CALAX Subsections 4 to 8 (Mamplasan in Biñan, Laguna to Silang, Aguinaldo) in Cavite.
