CAMPI, TMA: Auto sales grow by 41% in April

MANILA: A joint report by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) shows total vehicle sales for April 2022 reached 25,149 units, equivalent to 40.9% growth compared with 17,843 units recorded over the same period a year ago.

“The April sales performance reflects the continued containment of the pandemic underpinned by the improved consumer demand for big-ticket items compared with last year. This has enabled the industry to achieve a double-digit growth of nearly 41%, albeit lower by 15.3% on a month-on-month basis”, CAMPI President Atty. Rommel Gutierrez said.

“The government’s economic growth target of seven to (nine-percent) this year, driven by the overall improvement in employment and domestic demand will play a critical role in the economy and the industry’s recovery alike,” he added.

Year to date, CAMPI-TMA tallied 99,903 units, equivalent to 13.3% growth compared with the same period last year. 

In terms of passenger vehicle sales in April 2022, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) recorded the most number of vehicles sold with 3,680 units. TMP is followed by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp. (MMPC) with 801 units and Honda Cars Philippines Inc. (HCPI) with 712 units. 

For total commercial vehicle sales, the top three brands are TMP with 10,035 units, MMPC with 2,123 units, and Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) with 1,578 units.
