  • About Nissan Philippines

Nissan Motor Company entered the Philippine market in 1969 with the Universal Motors Corporation (UMC) as their authorized assembler and distributor. The very first vehicles by UMC had started assembling in Pasong Tamo, Makati facility. Nissan’s very first lineup for the Phillippines included Datsun 620 pick up with 1.5 L J15 I4 engine.

In 1983, Nissan Motor Company established Pilipinas Nissan, Inc. (PNI), a joint venture with Marubeni, to assemble and distribute Nissan passenger cars. The company took over the former Volkswagen (DMG, Inc.) assembly plant in E. Rodriguez Sr. Ave., Quezon City. Later that year, NMC brought Datsun 720 Double Cab pick-up with the carbureted L20B I4.

In September 2013, Nissan Motor Company reorganized its Philippine business with the establishment of Nissan Philippines, Inc. (NPI) as the sole national sales company for the Philippines, making direct control over the Philippine operations of Nissan.

Currently, the newly formed company is a joint-venture between Nissan Motor Company (51%), UMC (24.5%), and Yulon (24.5%). Coming to its performance in the market, Nissan Philippines recorded sales of 42,694 units in December 2019. The vehicle manufacturer managed to amass a growth rate of 22.2% from 2018.

Coming to its chart-toppers, the Nissan Navara pick up greatly contributed to the company’s success, with 19,034 sold for 2019 and accounting for 44.6% of total sales. The runner up for the year was Nissan Terra M-SUV and the Nissan Urvan light commercial van, each contributing 10,469 and 7,157 units. Moreover, the Nissan Terra is the third best-selling M-SUV among CAMPI brands as per the sales record of 2019.

In its most recent activities, the Nissan Philippines has launched the ‘Service on Wheels’ program for the customers. The program aids its customers with a mobile solution that delivers scheduled on-site aftersales services and repairs. Moreover, the program enables participating Nissan Philippines dealerships to deploy dedicated service vehicles operated by two Nissan-certified technicians.

The long list of present generation lineup for Nissan Philippines includes Almera, Sylphy, 370Z, GT-R, Juke, X-Trial, Terra, and Navara among others. Lastly, to increase its customer base and get more happy faces under its belt, Nissan has expanded its Nissan Finance program to enable more customers in the Philippines to own a Nissan vehicle. In partnership with East West Banking Corporation (EastWest), the sales finance program provides wholesale and retail financing options and loan facility products exclusively for Nissan customers in the Philippines.
