The giant Japanese automaker Suzuki has been thrilling the world with its cars for almost a century now. Suzuki’s popularity needs no introduction, it is one of the highest acclaimed automakers in the world. Their technology and innovation are so affordable that many other automakers have tried to enter into a partnership with them, for cross-badging of products. In the Philippines market, one product from Suzuki that has attained widespread popularity is the Suzuki APV. Suzuki APV is a compact van for moving a large number of goods, the Suzuki APV is one of the oldest vans available in the market. This 8-seater compact van is an essential business vehicle. The APV has been in the market for almost 15 years now and during this time we have not seen many upgrades of the same coming in.
Available in two variants, it is powered by a 1.6-litre SOHC gasoline engine that delivers a maximum power of 91 hp and a peak torque of 127 Nm. APV offers you a wide variety of colours to choose from which includes Superior White, Prime Cool Black, Silky Silver Metallic, Pearl Radiant Red, Graphite Grey Pearl Metallic, and Pearl Burgundy Red. The best part, APV does not face much of direct competition in the market. The starting price of the vehicle in the Philippines is PHP 588,000.
Suzuki APV is available with seven-seater or eight-seater configurations. Talking about the interior designing and layout of the van, we must say the cabin has ample room. The seven-seater configured van has a middle row arrangement with captain seat. The dashboard gets a beige theme upholstery which makes it look a bit appealing, despite its old design. Coming to the centre-instrument cluster, it has a wide 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and audio and Bluetooth controls. Suzuki has given wide ORVMs to the APV and these are controlled by knobs inside the cabin. There is just a single unit of air conditioning inside the cabin, and with no AV vents at the rear seats, the cabin space can be assumed to be much heated up.
There is enough of legroom and headroom space available, the only drawback we see is the lack of an under-thigh support feature, which is not that big a deal though. The overall build quality is pretty good and the van has a huge wheelbase of 2,625mm. The boot-space stands at around 194 litres.
The Suzuki APV has exterior design elements exactly what you would expect a van to the house. There are upright lines and a boxier shape. You surely won’t find anything else that is more eye-catchy, because that is what a primary brief design of a van would ideally have. The boxier shape was kept to maximise the inside cabin space of the van because that was the main focus of the automakers. In terms of dimensions the APV measures 4,155 mm in length, 1,655 mm in width, and 1,865 mm in height.
Other exterior aesthetics include the wide chrome grille, and big headlights. Also placed at the front face are radiator and fog lights. The side and rear profile looks plain and minimalist with no overhangs around.
The Suzuki APV rides on 14-inch wheels for the base variant and the top version rides in 15-inch alloy wheels.
When a model comes from the House of Suzuki, you can totally rely on the ride and handling feature. APV uses MacPherson struts in the front and a rigid axle with leaf spring/3-link rigid axle with coil spring at the back. The whole set-up makes the van a little bouncy on jolty roads. However, steering handling is very easy and light and with a turning radius of 4.9 meters, it is a pleasure to drive the APV around crowded streets. There is also a ground clearance of 180mm which allows the driver the tackle rough roads and bumps.
At the heart of Suzuki APV lies a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated MPI petrol engine. This engine has the capacity to churn 93 PS of power and 129 Nm of torque. It is mated to a smooth-shifting floor-mounted 5-speed gearbox. The car weighs around 1.3 tonnes and that’s quite a number for 93 PS to carry around with ease.
The torque curve at lower gears is quite flat and hence aids in second-gear starts. The engine is placed right under the driver’s seat which deprives the driver to adjust the height of the seat.
Suzuki has few safety features as standard in the APV. The Suzuki APV is incorporated with rear parking sensors, a defogger, and three-point ELR seat belts as standard. Additionally, the top variant of the new Suzuki APV also gets dual airbags, height-adjustable front seat belts, remote-controlled door locks, and side-impact beams. Australian NCAP tested the Suzuki APV and found gave it a three-star rating, which is quite a fair score to have.
There is nothing in the market that can match the reliability as well as the efficiency of the Suzuki APV. The APV stands for all-purpose vehicle and one can use it to transport goods as well as people around. Different variants of the APV are available at different prices.
The GA is priced at Php 588,000, the GLX comes at a premium of Php 808,000. The Utility van is priced at Php 660,000. The only downside that we see here if the lack of standard safety features and crash norms, owing to which Suzuki might have to launch an upgraded version of the same with certain changes.
If you’re looking for an all-purpose van, chances are that the Suzuki APV is the offering for you. One of the most reliable offerings in its true sense, the car brings forth sound design engineering by the automaker. They’ve not only maximized space and utility with their designs but have also made a great effort to add functionality to their
I run a small delivery business and I recently bought the Suzuki APV. I think it is a really practical, well-designed and compact vehicle that offers great utility. It is perfect for goods carriage over long distances. It is an 8-seater vehicle with a lot of space and commendable performance making it perfect for carrying goods and even passengers. I
Whether it’s carrying a considerable amount of goods or if it comes to carrying as much as 8 passengers, the Suzuki APV is a very useful and practical vehicle you can buy if it comes to commercial uses. I have been driving it for as much as almost a year pertaining to business purposes and I am very satisfied with
A conventional van that has been trusted for ages for its spacious 8 seater arrangement for its occupants. It is a quintessential vehicle for my travel agency that is sure to be proven fruitful for my errands. I was convinced on hopping into my decision of buying this van for its engine at 1590cc releasing power of 91 hp. The
Among the most fuel-efficient and responsible vehicles available in the Philippine market based on the latest reports. This vehicle can handle 4ft of floodwater in the roadway. The APV design is basic, but the vehicle's endurance and efficiency are out of this world. The speed is also not awful and you will understand that the moment you step into this
I was looking for a large automobile that could handle a large group of people, maybe seven or eight people at a time. So this Suzuki brand eight-seater car perfectly fulfilled my requirements. The Suzuki APV is, in my opinion, one of the greatest MPVs on the market. The automobile has a beautiful appearance and is quite roomy; it seems
The Suzuki APV is the most comfortable and spacious family hauler that one can find in the Philippine market. I was really impressed with the space and comfort inside this car when I took my first test drive. In fact, I also tested it by sitting on the rear seat just to check its comfort and this car convinced me
One of the most fuel efficient and dueable vehicle that i have ever drive. Even 4ft of flood water in the street is no match for this machine. Apv design is simple but the durability and the efficiency of this vehicle is out of this world. The speed also is not bad. Steering also is not a problem even though
The Suzuki APV is a spacious family hauler. There’s huge space in the cabin where 7 full-grown adults can travel comfortably for hours. I have taken the car out, full packed on long drives. Never for a moment did anyone complain of tiredness. The middle captain seats can be folded back and the rear seat passenger can almost lie down
of the largest production cars to have been developed by Suzuki, I feel the Suzuki APV is one of the best MPV that is available in the market. The car is great when it comes to looks and is indeed very spacious, it feels like you’re travelling inside a room. It is very good to carry at least 10 people
