About MG Philippines

The Morris Garage (MG) badge has been synonymous with cars that excite, inspire, and are a delight to drive. From the first Super Sports model that was produced in the UK in 1924, up to today's modern, global releases, MG vehicles tap into the natural joy that comes with driving.

It was in 1933 when the MG K3 Magnette emerged triumphant at the Mille Miglia, one of the toughest races in the world, and was the first non-Italian marque to take the 1100cc class win thanks to Captain George Eyston & Johnny Lurani.

The first line of MG’s was built using Morris’ Cowley chassis, until such time in 1924 when he finally built his first true MG, the 14/28 Super Sports. The introduction of Super Sports also premiered the octagonal logo we know today.

Throughout history, the brand MG traded hands several times: British Motor Corporation (BMC) in 1952, British Leyland (BL) in 1975, British Aerospace (BAe) in 1988, BMW in 1994, then to the MG Rover Group in 2000. Most recently, the rights to the MG brand was purchased by the Nanjing Automobile from China, creating a new company MG Motor, which is headquartered in Birmingham, UK. It designs, develops, and assembles models under the MG marque.

Fast forward to the present, MG officially entered the Philippine market in October of 2018 under its partnership with The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI). TCCCI stands as MG's official distributor in the local market and the China-backed British car manufacturer offers three models across the sedan, compact SUV, and crossover segments.

For the sedan, MG offers the MG6 four-door fastback, in the compact SUV segment there's the RX5, while the crossover segment's competed with the ZS. As of 1st June 2020, there are 4 MG car models available in the Philippines that include 2 SUV, 1 Wagon/Hatchback and 2 Sedan. The most 3 popular cars are ZS, MG5, and RX5.

    Gabriel Sep 01, 2021 for MG RX8

With a bold stance and smooth lines, the MG RX8 is a full-blown 7-seater SUV. I never called a car an SUV unless it’s a 7-seater. Even hatchbacks and crossovers are 5-seaters. So what’s the point in buying a 5-seater crossover and calling it an SUV? The 2.0-liter turbocharged engine produces 220 PS. That’s exactly what you would want from Read More 43

    Christian Sep 01, 2021 for MG RX5

The British carmaker has come up in a great way with an array of cars targeting all sections of customers. The RX5 has a nicely balanced styling. It’s neither too aggressive, nor very subtle. The headlamps and taillights all add to the fancy bits and ups the looks. The interior is rather simple and made up of hard plastics. It’s Read More 31

    Kevin Sep 01, 2021 for MG 5

Subcompact sedans have become very popular in recent times. The MG 5 comes with great styling and practicality that makes it a value-for-money vehicle to own. But I found the 1.5-litre engine a bit underpowered. The car was slow in its response. But it performs well once it picks up speed. The interior is very stylish with the electronic AC Read More 166

Andres Sep 01, 2021 for MG ZS

If you want a decently comfortable crossover that you can take for weekend trips once in a while, the MG ZS should be your choice. The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder engine with MT is the perfect powertrain for a city-based crossover car. The ZS has all-around attractive looks, offers great handling and suspension, and comes with an impressive braking system. The 112PS Read More 255

    Tristan Aug 02, 2021 for MG 6

I had always been wanting to buy the MG 6 ever since I saw the car on the streets near my office. I was very impressed by the exterior styling of the vehicle. Sleek lines, smooth curves and a styling front design with a unique headlamp design that adds to the elegance of the car. The fastback sedan has not Read More 78
