MANILA: The Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) is set to increase its toll rates starting tomorrow (October 28).

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • When will the toll operator increase the rates in CAVITEX?

The toll operator will increase the rates in CAVITEX tomorrow, October 28.
  • In how many tranches will the adjustments be implemented?

The adjustments will be implemented in two tranches.
  • The adjustment will take place after the Toll Regulatory Board approved the petitions filed by joint venture partners CAVITEX Infrastructure Corporation (CIC) and Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) in 2020 and 2023.

However, the operator will reactivate the CAVITEX “Abante Program” — a toll reprieve initiative that lets registered public utility vehicles and agricultural trucks to enjoy paying old toll rates for 90 days from implementation.

In a statement, MPT South said that the comebacking initiative is eyed to ease the impact of the impending toll hike. The adjustments will support ongoing upgrades and maintenance activities.

“We appreciate the government's affirmation to honor its contractual obligations with the Private Investors and Toll Operators,” the CAVITEX management shared.

The new toll rates are as follows:
CAVITEX R1 Portion (Seaside to Zapote) – VAT-inclusive rates

    Class Old rate New rate
    1 P35 P39
    2 P70 P78
    3 P104 P117

To moderate the impact on motorists, the rate adjustment will be implemented in two tranches (2025 and 2026). First tranche rates are:

CAVITEX R1 Extension Segment 4 (Zapote to Kawit):

    Class Old rate New rate
    1 P73 P88
    2 P146 P176
    3 P219 P264

Further, the company noted that due to movement in the toll for the CAVITEX R1 portion, the CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 2 (Sucat Interchange) rate will also be adjusted accordingly to the new VAT-inclusive rates: P38 (Class 1), P76 (Class 2), and P114 (Class 3).

Per the tollway operator, transport groups not yet enrolled may contact 1-35000 or email customercare@mptc.com to know more about the program and how to avail.

“While the rate adjustments are necessary to ensure continued maintenance, safety, and improvement of the expressway, we also recognize the need to support sectors most affected by rising transport costs. The toll reprieve initiative seeks to strike a fair balance between infrastructure sustainability and public welfare.”

    Infra improvements

Moreover, MPTS mentioned that prior to the approval of the petitions, CIC and PRA completed major infrastructure projects to ensure the expressway’s safety and efficiency. These include:

    • Expansion Joint Replacement at the Parañaque Segment Bridges and Imus Viaduct, enhancing ride comfort and structural reliability
    • Upgraded RFID systems and installation of Automatic License Plate Recognition technology for faster and more seamless transactions
    • Ongoing pavement rehabilitation works in critical portions of both the Kawit and Parañaque segments
CIC and PRA reaffirm their commitment to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient expressways that support economic growth and regional connectivity.
