Denso works on new tech to improve night driving safety

MANILA: Denso Corporation has partnered with automotive lighting provider Koito Manufacturing Company Limited to develop a technology that will improve the object recognition rate of vehicle image sensors by coordinating them with lamps to guarantee safe nighttime driving.

Koito has been developing adaptive high beams to maintain good visibility without dazzling approaching vehicles, while Denso is an expert in producing sensors for vehicles' advanced driver assistance systems.

For this collaborative project, Denso's expertise in object recognition technology will be combined with Koito's know-how in driving-beam photometry control technology.

"The collaboration with Koito, which has been improving the performance of lamps and contributing to the safety of vehicles around the world for many years, is of great significance to Denso's Mobility Electronics business. By partnering with Koito, a lighting professional, Denso will continue to make strong efforts towards achieving its goal of zero fatalities in traffic accidents," Denso Corporation Mobility Electronics Business Group General Manager Hiroshi Kondo stated.

For Koito's part, Senior Managing Corporate Officer Takayuki Katsuda said, "We believe that the collaboration of Denso, a top supplier of automotive components, and Koito, a leading company on lighting technology, will make a significant contribution to the realization of next-generation mobility."
